Does anyone know of a source for boxes (deck-sized, of course!) made of cedar or sandalwood?

I've had luck occasionally with the Pier 1 stores. They get a lot of stuff from Asia & boxes always seem to be one of the things that change constantly.
That or do a quick check over on ebay under 'tarot boxes'

Thanks - I do have some boxes from Pier One but I've found that a lot of the imports from Asia are coated with some fairly strong and unpleasant smelling varnishes. I've tried airing them out, filling them with incense, doing other things to make them smell pleasant, but mostly I fail. So I am on the scent (sorry) of boxes made of untreated cedar or other natural woods that won't make my cards smell quite so toxic...

They're a popular tourist ware in the Southern US, little chests are very common here, and I love the smell. If you have a custom woodworker in your area, try getting a box made from Olive wood, it is beautiful and aromatic (actually smells like olives!), cedar is lovely too.

Lots of tourist shops here with redwood boxes. They smell nice, not very strong & not cheap. Another thing you might try is a craft shop for plain untreated woodboxes, then do the incense thing or get some natural oil or stain and add a few drops of what ever essential oil catches your fancy.
