I've found this article on the net.. it actually still amazes me the fact that there are people who really believe this...

http://logosresourcepages.org/occult_primer.htm

I don't know if I should laugh or cry...

Beware, or we will all end up in a fire.

Divination comes from the root word divine
The mis interpretation of thew bible and scriptures is so rampant that you can make anything fit to whatever belief you want.

The original bible, a collection of scrolls written in sanskrit , cuniform ancient hebrew were edited by the powers to be at the time and lots to do with dreams, and divination were selectively edited out. Hence modern religion is dogma with little to no spirit.

Don't let them worry you. They are not on your path and let them be.

Also be happy in the fact that you are liberated from it all

The Pokemon page is even funnier.

Although I stopped laughing when I remembered that there are people in the United States, because of the Christian fundementalism rampant there, who actually live in communities like this....

That is not funny at all. And my heart goes out to them. It is so hard for us to imagine here in Europe (we had our Inquisition and learned our lessons, I hope). Islamic fundamentalism... Christian fundamentalism. Two sides to the same coin.

Never mind... Cheer yourself up with: http://www.landoverbaptist.org :P

Obviously the people who wrote that page haven't paid much attention to the many times in the Bible that men of God, and God Himself, use 'divination'....

Joseph, son of Jacob in Genesis (I think), foretells the future using dreams. (This story is best known as Joseph and His Technicolour Dreamcoat. :D)

A man called Balaam with a donkey, also in Genesis I believe, is caused by God to utter five oracles, foretelling the future, in His name.

The Book of Revelations is all about foretelling the future, as it gives the reader an account of what will happen in the future.

The Old Testament itself was said to be prophesy of the coming of Jesus, and was supposedly fulfilled by the acts described in the New Testament.

On a purely philosophical basis instead of just a theological one, the writers of the page need first to prove that it isn't God working through divination.

They also need to describe what 'Blue Magick' and 'Red Magick' is, because I found that very funny. Anybody heard of these types of 'magick'? I've heard of 'pink magick' but that was a term used by Fiona Horne, and I think she coined it herself, to describe sex magick. I'm racking my brains trying to work out what on earth Blue Magick is!

*Off to read the Pokemon thingy*

The Bible's Old Testament also provides that death is the punishment for working on the Sabbath. It is filled with the allegorical, parables, and outdated rules and customs.

Perhaps we should heave a few stones in the direction of religious hypocrites who insist in a literal reading of the Bible.

What a useful website. It lists a whole slew of divination systems I had never even heard of. I shall have fun finding out all about them using google ;)

What people have to realise is not everyone who classes themselves as religious believes what is on that website. Okay, they say that cartomancy is evil, but who is anyone to say that the Bible is? Misinterpretation of it, is what is wrong. And it was written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek actually.

OH GEEZ- what an interesting site--and an interesting take on the "occult"......he forgot to mention green magic- and apparently
(according to the truth about witches) we occupy our time with orgies!
I understand some of where he is coming from, I walk out of a retreat because of the (imo) immoral things going on in the hot springs.....in the name of magic.....
.....oh, and there is an increasing use of blood & animal sacrifices too......
.......now where did that chicken go?......here chicky-chicky!

Moongold  02 Sep 2003
Macavity, your link frightened me more. It looked like a local newspaper with photographs and there fore much more real.

mercenary30  02 Sep 2003
Wow, according all these websites I am going to burn in hell many times over. I must a foul terrible person. Ok, Fine. But I still give out good hugs, that has to count for something.

lunalafey  02 Sep 2003
in regards to macavitys site......
EWE!!!!
but dig a little deeper & wonder ???? rofl.....
is this for real?
if it is or not, I'm laughing hystarically!!!

Macavity  02 Sep 2003
I think it should be stressed that the site is NOT real - It is almost an "urban legend" of the internet. I think the material has perhaps fallen off somewhat - presumably they run out of ideas, if not (sadly) inspiration? In less than political correctness mode, gotta love ol' Betty though... })

My work was once planning a party where people would show off their hobbies. A woman wanted to show her Tarot collection. Unfortunately, there was a fundamentalist who stongly objected and she was asked not to display her collection. I always thought this was unfair. If the fundamentalist didn't like it, then they didn't have to look at it or even go near the table. They're so afraid of thinking for themselves that anything that deviates slightly from what they are told is seen as a huge threat and the work of the devil. I could go on and on ranting about this but I really wouldn't want to bore everyone.

AmounrA  03 Sep 2003
Perhaps some-one should have punched him on the nose. When he protests, tell him 'god told me to ', or the classic Bill Hicks retort 'forgive me'

...of course you could always kick him in the butt and claim you saw satan nestling in his pants !

Nevada  03 Sep 2003
This is sad. Even more sad, these are people who believe that someone has brainwashed *us*!

He was probably afraid the Devil would pop out of the Tarot cards and devour his soul.

VGimlet  05 Sep 2003
Gosh, don't you just HATE it when the devil does that? LOL

I feel a little sorry for people like that, even if I don't want them around me. They must live in fear that something is going to tempt them away from their true and narrow path. I was also appalled and amazed by their Pocahantus page.
