Has anyone seen the movie Underworld? I loved it. I'm hoping a tarot deck based on the movie will pop up.

I've never even heard about it, probably because films are usually released here several months after the USA release date. (I'm still eagerly anticipating Finding Nemo, for instance, which isn't due until December....:( ).
Could you tell us a little of what it's about? Who directed / wrote it, etc?
The title certainly raised my curiosity! :)

Underworld was just released a few weeks ago in the US. So I guess it will be a while before it makes it's way around the globe.
It's a dark movie. It's like Romeo and Juliet meets vampires and werewolves meets the matrix.
Vampires and Lycans (the werewolves) fight against each other to try and take over the underworld. In the movie the "underworld" doesn't really seem to be a place, but more like a term that describes the comings and goings of the vampires and lycans, that most humans aren't aware of. Humans take a backseat in this movie with the exception of one, who is bitten by a werewolf and begins to turn.
There is a subtle love story between the main vampire character and the human-turned-lycan.
I like vampire movies and this isn't your typical one. The underworld vampires are well established. They don't have to go around killing humans for blood because they own a plasma/blood donation corporation used by humans. So they're never without food.
This is a loud movie with lots a techno-weapon scenes. The lycans use bullets filled with liquid ultra-violet light, to kill the vampires - since daylight kills them. The vampires use bullets with liquid silver, that goes into the lycans bloodstream when shot into the body and kills them. I thought this was pretty creative.
I think I liked this movie so much because whenever I see a human vs. vampire type movie I'm always rooting for the vampires. This movie almost completely excludes humans, which I like. There's also a plot twist towards the end that is intriguing and allows for an Underworld 2 to be made.
Also, if you like matrix-looking clothes or goth-looking cloths - this movie has some cool costumes.

May I suggest the Vargo Gothic Tarot?

Yes, I do like The Gothic Tarot. I don't have it yet, but was thinking of getting this weekend. The reason I would like an "underworld" deck is because it's goth and futuristic looks mixed together.
I've never been able to read well with a dark deck, but I still like having them around.

I also like ‘Mage: The Ascension’, it’s dark and futuristic – sans vampires and werewolves.
...although some folks are 'disturbed' by it...

Umbrae, are you able to read with any of the darker decks?

I prefer reading with dark decks - and no, they do not produce dark readings - Here's an example of a non-dark reading with a Gothic deck.
...and for a majors only, I tend to use a Giger deck...I gave away my Lovecraft because it was not dark enough.
On the other hand I also love using a Scapini Medieval and a Di Gumppenberg repro…and a Drogi…

I love reading with dark decks too; if a deck's too 'fluffy' as my boyfriend calls some of the really pretty ones (shame - I really liked the Flower Fairies one) then you don't get a balanced view using them (unless you're a LOT better than I am, which isn't too difficult to be). I've had some stunningly accurate readings using decks that everyone I know outside cyberspace is actually afraid of.
Re: Underworld - go and see it! It's political, it's Matrixy, it's beautiful ART. I can watch anything as long as it's artistic, and there's a lot of artistic merit in this film. The sets, the concept, the cast... wow. Let's hope for an increase in the number of high-quality thought-provoking films like this one. And EVERYBODY go and see the third Matrix film.
Another mind-blowing film that sticks in my mind is 'Cube'. It's old but the questions it raises can't really be answered, and I'm not sure I'm ready to find out my answers. xxx
