Hello, I apologize if this has already been discussed.
I was wondering if we are able to accidentally influence the cards that turn up in a reading but wanting a certain result?
Like for example with dowsing, how if you want a yes answer, a yes signal happens, so you have to try to not think yes or no when you want an answer.
Well can that happen with tarot?
The thing is, last night I did 2 spreads on a question, and although I wasn't conciously trying to influence the cards to say what I wanted to hear, but i wonder if I did as it was so great, just what i wanted!
This could just be a problem of me not able to believe I could have what I want lol
ANy thoughts?
TIA
Sharon xx

Did the cards show what you wanted to see, or did you see in the cards what you wanted to see them as?
It is possible, given the variety and richness in symbolism included in the images, to focus and see what one really either wishes for or is in fear of. This is where practising readings with issues one is not so attached with is important.
With issues which are important to one, if you feel or sense you may not be truly honest, it may be better to either meditate on the issue, or ask what aspects of the situation at hand may be worth paying attention to.

I agree, you will be able to see "your answer" in any card what so ever if there is a certain answer you want.
To get rid of that obstacle, ask another reader to do your reading - they wont sugarcoat the answer I bet 'ya :P

Thank you for your replies, I think I will post the reading on 'Your Readings' to see what others think!
Warm regards

This is one of the best questions to consider *before* engaging in reading. Does one read according to what they know or want to know or what they don't know (and maybe need to know)?
It's alot like playing Jazz where some guys have a limited vocabulary and play only what they know instead of listening and playing from that. That latter is the *real* magic in the music and is not easy to attain since it requires ability that is beyond the average musician.
If anyone wants to know more of what I mean, try:

and read what Branford says about improvisation.
