UGH! I am embarassed to admit that I won the Robin Wood deck off of ebay quite some time ago and I didn't even really look through it. I had also won a few other decks and it is just another example of my tarotholism and the deck has lingered on the shelf.
I have recently felt pulled to work with this deck and last night I was looking through it and the lovers card has bathing suits drawn on it!
I guess I could rebuy it but just makes me so mad.

Don't alter it anymore than has already been done. Put it back in the box and sell it on Ebay with the following description:
It's very possible that you'll get your money back on this sale!
As P.T. Barnum said, "This way to the Egress."

HAHA Bob.
besides the bowdlerization (fun word!) the deck is kind of worn and dirty.
it even feels dirty! poor thing!
i don't think i could give it away!
ah well...i guess it goes with buying off of ebay.

E-Bay has a service, where you report your satisfaction on your purchase.
It's called feedback.
1) Notify the seller and see if you can get a refund.
2) Provide feedback if they do not.
Enough bad feedback, and that person cannot sell on E-Bay anymore.
Do not re-sell it on E-Bay. Demand satisfaction.

Umbrae -
The problem is I bought this deck a long while ago. It was my error in that I briefly looked it over and it has sat on my shelf. I really don't even recall when I bought it..but it has been over a year.
It won't happen again! I typically have had very good luck in buying used decks off ebay.

Poor deck! Maybe an art store would have a way to restore/repair it a bit. I have a very big soft spot for abused and neglected things. xxx

don't worry, dark angel, the deck can stay in the book shelf :) my 4 year old is starting to get really interested in my "cards" so maye it can be her deck!
i ordered the robin wood book so i am planning on going to the bookstore tomorrow and getting a brand new robin wood.

So they didn't touch the other 'naked' cards at all? The Judgment, Star and Devil? Just the Lovers? Weird.

Oh, that's awful. I know why I am always reluctant to get stuff from ebay.

As long as a deck is in print, I've had good luck in contacting the publisher and asking for just one card (when my cat was younger she chewed up a card, and in another deck the laminating went wrong and left a big, raised line down the middle of a card). I offered to pay, but both publishers brushed that off and sent them for free, so it might be worth your while to ask.

llwellyn publishes the robin wood tarot.. and i've contacted them before for that specific deck.. they resent me the entire suit of cups... .. you could always try to get a new card as galadrial said :o)

i think i am too set on a shiny new deck LOL i am really excited to get the book and work with it a bit.
if someone wants to pay postage i'd be happy to pass the deck along and they can try to replace the cards. otherwise i'll just keep it on the shelf and let my daughter play with it.

Giving it to your daughter sounds like an excellent idea! It's a lovely deck, and if it's not brand new, it won't matter if she damages it while she's learning.
For consistency, why not cover up the other naked characters as well? Then you won't get as many awkward questions. lol.
I wish my mom had given me a deck when I was a child.

giving the deck to your daughter is only a good idea if you dont mind seeing them go through more abuse..unless you plan to still be the decks "keeper" . I have a 9 yr old and a 5 yr old and neither of them are responsible enough yet to keep a deck together...but they are great to go through cards with and i keep the decks that the children can use with my other decks...they teach me alot when they make up the stories they see in the cards.

I find that if a child truly cares about something, they tend to look after it very well, so if you teach your daughter how to look after a deck (shuffling carefully rather than bashing cards together, putting them away in their box instead of leaving them on the table, etc.), then any further damage should be minimal.
Maybe if you clean them a bit (some art stores sell things that will help clean cards of dirt and grease) before giving them to her, it will reinforce the idea that these cards are special and should be treated well.

my 10 (almost 11) year old received his first deck recently. he is not exactly careful with most of his things but he has really impressed me with how he treats his cards. he loves to get them out and hang out with me and compare them to my cards.
my daughter jumps right in with us and it is so funny because she will start pointing the card and saying what this and that means to her. i do think if i let her just take them she'd color them and probably put stickers all over them LOL but i will keep them in my case with the other decks and she can have them when she asks.
