I have some exciting news from Cathy, the publisher of Templar Tarot.
She & its creator, Allen Chester, were amongst those whose home & possessions suffered major damage from Hurricane Isabel. The losses include Templar Tarot decks & their inventory was already low. They hope Llewellyn will do the next printing soon! One of the photos they sent me eloquently expresses the loss of the decks: Templar Tarot cards scattered on the lawn amidst other debris. (Hope to find out how to attach the photo here later.). Happily, most of the losses are replaceable & repairs are in progress.
Templar is supposed to have a part in a new movie being released later this month, Scary Movie 3, with Queen Latifah!! I am not a fan of horror movies, but if it is I do not care. I would love to see the movie just to see the deck :)
Also, Allen has finished painting the Major Arcana for his next deck, too!
Btw: when I had the singular opportunity to meet Cathy & Allen during Summer 2002, I saw some of Allen's newer paintings. They are remarkable paintings; just blew me away. I hope to see them in the new deck!
I shall keep ye all posted.

MeeWah: The Scary Movies are not horror movies. They're a spoof on the Scream movies, and are supposed to be funny. The humour is...... well..... I suppose one has to be very open-minded and then one can laugh. The second one had some really gross parts in it. But Queen Latifah will add some punch and life, so maybe it will be watchable (but I doubt it! :D ).

How awful that they suffered such major damage from the hurricane. It is indeed fortunate that repairs are already underway, and I do hope that Llewellyn will reprint the Templar Tarot very soon. Hopefully, none of Allen Chester's paintings for his next deck were damaged.

Diana: Thanks. Cathy just told me the same thing--that this movie is a comedy & a spoof. Spoofs are more up my alley.
Guess my ignorance of movies shows :D & proves the old maxim: never judge a book by its cover. In this case: never judge a movie by its title :)
Astraea: They indicated none of the newer paintings were damaged (so that suggests the older dinna fare so well). They still have some decks left, which is good!
Maan: I, too plan to see the movie. I think this is so exciting!
For those who have not seen it or in case anyone is interested, here is the Templar Tarot website:

That is so sad to hear. When I got the deck, it had a card missing, so I called them to report it and ask for a copy of the missing card. They sent the card alright, as well as some greeting cards, some postcards, and, best of all, an extra High Priestess card signed by Allen. Super nice people. As many aeclecticians know, I tend to go on about this deck; it is my favorite (though the Margarete Petersen has given it some stiff competition). I'm thrilled to hear of the completed majors and am definately in line to get any other deck they produce.

The old one is gorgeous, but I couldn't work with it.
I would enjoy seeing their new one, as their art is wonderful.

Is there any news on the new deck?
Galadriel, I was interested to see it's your favorite. It's a new favorite of mine.

Hi SongDeva,
glad this deck has netted another fan. It's not my favorite due to the artwork per se, but the fact that it seems to bypass the rational part of my brain completely and I get deep, intuitive readings more readily with it than any other deck. I also like the texture, the size and even smell of this deck.

I, too, fell in love with the size and texture of these cards. I find that they are the perfect size for doing a reading. They fit so nicely in my hands.
However, I must say the artwork appeals on me in a level I can't quite explain.

I am curious about this card. It is the most difficult for me to relate to of all the ones I've seen from this deck. It seems to be showing a person performing a necromantic ritual. How would you interpret this in a reading? What does it mean to you? Here is a link that shows the card http://www.astroamerica.com/t-temp.html
thanks,
