Last night, I spent some quality time with a good friend...
He gifted me with a deck set he no longer wants--the Fradella Adventure Tarot!
Then at the bookstore where we were hanging out, I also found a used Wirth deck in decent condition and cheaply priced; I had credit there, so I didn't even have to use any cash.
Being thusly blessed, I was encouraged to gather up all my decks, including the few floating freely in boxes with books.
My efforts yielded a couple of decks that I actually thought I'd already traded, and one I had completely forgotten I ever had!
So, now I'll be able to post my list before everything goes into storage (except for what I can't live without ;) )...
Unfortunately, my current count means I've gone a bit over my self-imposed limit (ten), but TOO BAD--I love them all! :D

STORAGE??? How could you bear to put them in storage?? :joke:
Congratulations on the newest members of your family!
Isn't it fun when you "find" things you had put away for a long time?
It is like having and early Christmas !! ;)

I can totally relate to your delight in this tarot boon, Tauni! Although you have exceeded your ten-deck limit, you couldn't very well refuse a friend or a great bargain! Enjoy your decks.

It's always great to find lost stuff like that; even if they are ours, it feels like we just got treasures. The same thing happened to me, I forgot decks and oracles in boxes, and I was so happy when I found them. I understand your joy. Enjoy your treasures!

I cannot imagine having so many tarot decks that you can't even remember which ones you have. And you guys think I'm the one who's crazy! :D

I had an epiphany yesterday, and decided that I must not lose my head.
I need to maintain my resolve and keep my tarot deck gathering to a minimum, because I'm...well, me...
Knowing me, I will gather more and more tarots and not pay attention to any one of them.
A lot of very sharp people can collect, read and teach tarot classes (like Kiama, our very own wonderchild! :D ;) ), but that's just not me.
Sooo...
I went to my favorite second-hand bookstore with a small selection of decks from the growing mass, choosing to keep what I consider to be "study" decks, and of course, the two that I already read with.
For my trades, I was able to get a new Thoth deck with the Akron/Banzhaf handbook, and a Grimaud Marseille (which actually used to be mine, so it's back with me!).
Both of these fill gaps in my small collection of study decks.
I also looked around for a personal reading deck--something I researched here on Aeclectic just last night.
I finally chose two from my wishlist: the Vampire Tarot and Tarot Affirmations.
I've used the Vampire Tarot for shadow work, and I have a feeling that it will also serve well for general personal readings.
With Tarot Affirmations, I will finally do "card-a-day" draws, which I've never attempted before.
I feel better now that I'm back to ten tarot decks.
Nothing extraneous, and everything in it's place...
Until CHRISTMAS!!!
 :D ;)

Which vampire tarot?
After this week, I realized that the Vargo and the Lo Scarabeo Gothic Vampires actually reflected a nice segment of books that I liked, which were classic dark tales of mystery--actually I only kept my Wilkie Collins, Bronte, Chesterton and Conan Doyle's Victorian gasp-light (gaslight) titles. Now I found that you can read them online free...
http://www.pages.drexel.edu/~stb27/e-texts.html#Gothic,%20Horror,%20Ghost%20Stories,
I just posted about using the two vampire tarots for edgy topics---probably your brillant brainwaves are running over the internet...have a great time with your new toys and I can feel a delighted energy at what you've found and enjoyed recently.
Best wishes,
Mari H.
P.S. There's only 30 non-tarot-aquisition days left in this year...the better to write your lists, my dear...brohahaha.

Mari,
I feel so wimpy...
It's the Natalie Hertz deck...I'm easing into the edgier stuff very slowly, 'cuz I scare easy.
I'm trying to resist your hint of a list, but it's not working...
I MUST BE STRONG!

Noooooo!!!
Note To Self: Post a suggestion to Solandia to take away Mari_Hoshizaki's vampire-themed decks...they are unduly influencing her usually reserved demeanor...
:D
