After reading.

I was wondering what people do with their Tarot decks after finishing reading them (in the evening or whenever). I, whenever I'm done, put them in order. I've heard that your deck is like your life. If it's in mess then it may influence your life. I just want to know if you guys do the same. Thanks, Agathe :o).

I think it's all down to personal preference, so you're going to get some very interesting and diverse replies to this thread! :D Me, I don't put my cards in order, because for every reading I'd have to shuffle so much to randomise them again! However, after my readings I always make sure the cards are neat and tidy, not strewn around or anything, and I wrap them back in their cloth. Kiama

I just leave them laying out where they are for a few days, especially if I am doing a Tarot spell. There is noone else here so I don't have to worry about anyone moving anything! except the cats. ; ) Yes I am quite messy, things around here are often in disarray (for lack of a better word, I am clean, just messy :)) Eventually I pick them up and put them in the box, but not in any particular order.

I just shuffle them a few times and put them back in their boxes, mentally thanking the universe for the experiences I've had with/through them.

It depends what I've been doing with them. If it's been a reading, either for myself or someone else, I'll usually tidy them all away (not in order though); unless it's a reading about the day ahead, in which case I'll leave the deck as it is for the whole day (that's in a stack, with the top card turned over) and tidy it up at the end of the day. At the moment I'm studying the Vargo, and it's plit into two places right now - the minors are in the box, and the majors are on my desk, with the card I'm currently studying on top. Oh, and my Wolf Song deck lives in a little velvet bag in my rucksack, so I always have it with me; I'm just getting to know it, and really love it. (Thanks Tallarico!)

When finished with a reading I place each crad randommly back into the deck and put them in their house, ( depends on if I have a bag or not for that particular deck, some are in original boxes) The only time I re-order them is if I am putting them away indefinately in favor of a new deck, or somtimes I like to lay them out in order to study them.

I normally just put the cards on top of the deck and wrap them back up and put them in their box. No shuffling normally. I also sort of do that silent prayer of thanks afterwards.

Well, I just put them back in its box. I'm not very elaborate with tarot - no silk, no wooden box (it looks too much like a coffin), no nothing. Just its nice paper box. Nice and snug. Maybe this Christmas I'll get it a wooly scarf. :)

I put them back in their box or bag & put them wherever I put them. e.g. cupboard, purse etc.

I rarely put my cards back in order. I always put them away, in whatever bag or box that deck is kept in. Once or twice a year I do put them in order, to make sure they are all there, and because sometimes I want to, but it's a random decision.

What a great question! When I open my deck before a days' reading I say a prayer in my mind for guidance from the 'almighty power' and ask that my readings come in 'light and love'. As I do this I go through my deck making sure no cards are Rx. When I have finished I close my deck by thanking the 'almighty power' and making sure all the cards are upright and then put my divination crystal on top of the deck and wrap their silk around them. I don't put the cards back in any kind of numerical or suit order. :D XTAX :D

After a reading, I shuffle my cards ALOT. Probably twenty times, just shuffling them in different ways.

The only time my cards are in order is when I first buy them or, if I want to compare them with another deck. After a reading I shuffle them and thank them and return them to their place (box/bag etc). Moonbow*
