Blatant Campaign for the Tarot of Prague

The purpose of this post is to convince you to vote for the Tarot of Prague in the Aeclectic Tarot Top 10 Tarot Decks of 2003 poll. In 2002 I ran a blatant campaign for the Spiral Tarot and sure enough, the Spiral came in 8th. I know there are a lot of Tarot of Prague fans out there and would suggest they carefully consider the impact their vote can have. ;) Baba-prague is a member of the community and has shared so much with us as she and her partner have gone through the entire process of bringing this tarot deck to us. The Tarot of Prague is love homage to the magic and mystery of it's namesake city - thus an assessible deck with hidden depths. Vote Tarot of Prague! :D

I already have voted for the Tarot of Prague. Simply because it is the best reading deck I have, the most beautiful deck I have, it is very reasonably priced, the packaging is strong and durable and quite lovely at that. I voted for this deck because it deserves it! Mimi

I've just voted for Tarot of Prague as well. It's not one of my main reading decks but it's beautiful, it's very well done, the card stock and matte finish are gorgeous and it's packed full of easy to read symbolism. I could go on and on. I had problems following some of the previous post... For what it's worth, and though I have recommended and shown the deck to a number of people, I did not vote for the Praguw... simply because it would be dishonest on my part. I voted for a Marseille deck - I know, it may surprise those who know me :) What Major Tom is doing with this thread is twofold, as I see it. Firstly, to encourage as many to vote as may so wish; and secondly, to vote for the deck he views should have as many votes as possible. Fair enough... Of course each will vote, confidentially, as they see fit, Crowley... no need to worry about that. Also, it's wonderful to have enthusiasm for any deck posted, without thereby downputting others. I personally very much like all the decks mentioned above - even if I do not as yet own each of them :)

I may have considered Kat or Marie's deck, but they have not been published yet. I am smelling something too, but it is not corruption, it is anger. Why Crowley would feel so resentful about the Tarot of Prague and its artists I find mystifying. He came very close to calling Baba Prague a liar in this thread, so I'm starting to wonder if Crowley is perhaps a frustrated deck artist, or one whose deck has been less well received than the Tarot of Prague. Crowley, I really don't mind you describing the deck as naff or saying you hate it or whatever. Your opinion is your own and of course please express it - personally it doesn't bother me, in fact criticism is often good. But PLEASE don't accuse anyone here of corruption. Aeclectic just isn't like that. Of course it's like any community, some people have particular interests or tastes in common or whatever. But I have never felt that AT is a place where you could get away with any sort of "corruption" - or would want to. People here are more honest and simply nicer than you think. Just give us all the benefit of the doubt please. (and by the way, I like Tom's deck too - and I also know Tom is as straightforward as they come) edited to say - and OF COURSE I love both Marie's deck and Kat's - how could anyone not? They are both amazing and wonderful. Marie's deck makes me smile every time I look at it - it's got real love in it, as well as bags of talent and knowledge. I'm also looking forward to the Golden Tarot as much as anyone. There are a lot more decks I love too - mostly self-published but not all. But the point is that this is not a fight for who comes out top, I think one of the things I like most about the whole tarot community is that it isn't a big competitive thing. Many people here who design decks also love and admire the work that others are putting out - and say so - and it helps all of us do better work. Many areas of design are not so supportive, so let's just enjoy the fact that tarot is generally so normal, nice and un-neurotic! So please don't create fights where there are none.

My reputation will be ruined. I may even get sent to Satan when I die and who knows, it may not even be so cool down there. Crowley: Now that you seem to have understood why your friends (you didn't name them, but I'll accept your statement that you had friends on this forum) have left, are you planning on doing the same? And if they told you what a stinking place this is, why did you bother even to join? baba-prague: You sent me the Majors of your deck. I love that Hermit. He's the best Hermit I've ever ever ever seen (in fact.... he is almost as nice as the one on the Marseilles deck. :D ).

I'm afraid I voted for Ancestral Path. Go Ancestral Path! Just because it's the deck I've clicked with this year. I haven't bought any decks at all recently, and I'm afraid I don't have Tarot of Prague. I wouldn't want to vote for a deck I don't own. Who knows what I'll vote for next year.

fairyhedgehog: here's a towel to dry yourself with. Actually, I think I will vote for a non-Marseilles deck. It'll be the Tarocchi del Vetro. It is stunning, beautiful and so intelligent. And it doesn't have pictures on the pips. :laugh:

I'm sorry. :'( As I stated at the outset - the purpose of this thread is to recommend first that you vote in the poll, and second, that you Vote for the Tarot of Prague. I don't have any problem with anyone who wishes to vote for another deck, but please start your own thread if you wish to tell the world how you voted. I promise I won't crash in with my opinion. ;) If you've voted for the Tarot of Prague and are proud of that fact, I'd like to hear from you on this thread. Tell us why you think the Tarot of Prague deserves your vote. :) Vote Tarot of Prague! :D
