Has anyone here ever "felt" a real physical energy in your cards as you were shuffling them? There are times that I swear I can "FEEL" the cards.

Yes, definitely. For me, this feeling has been very pronounced with Froud's Faeries, the Thoth and the Tarot of Prague. While on one level the cards are just ink on paper, some of us believe that consciousness pervades all planes of manifestation, from the smallest subatomic particle or wave to the most complex levels of being; it makes sense to me that someone might be able to detect and respond to the aggregate consciousness represented by a tarot deck (or any other object). That is probably a basic component of all psychic experience.

I have not been doing it long enough to have felt this yet!

I have never felt any energy from my cards, but I think I could tell my cards by feeling them if I was blindfolded. The more I use the cards the more they fit my hands.

I've never felt any energy from cards but I think two days ago I saw them in three dimentions (I don't really know how to say that in English but I know you understand). Anyway, it was the first time such thing had happened to me and I hope I will experience it more. I really liked it :o)

yes. am hestitant to elaborate since this will probably sound kinda weird and I'm not sure how to put it into words -- be forewarned!
For me it's more of an exchange. Don't feel a super strong "sensation" from the deck, instead it's more like the deck can "hear" me and we there's an understanding. It takes me about 2 or so weeks of regular use with a new deck before establishing a "relationship".
In fact, I think my Thoth deck is getting a little jealous and peeved about becoming 'second fiddle' to my new Light & Shadow deck. :)

To me, energy (prana) is everywhere. It's inside you, waiting, and it's in a deck of cards, dormant until put in use.
If one gets to a point where they can connect energetically, become sensitive to what energy feels like, YES you can feel it from a deck of cards.
Or a can of diet pepsi vanilla. Or a ladder that falls off the scaffolding of a house.
Sometimes we look at "normal" things and we feel the energetic connections all around us, and go WHOA ... especially if a normal object (scooping henna from one bowl to another) triggers a psychic moment, or flash.
In my opinion, you're on the right track Indigo Rose. Keep at it!!! Your journey is gonna get more and more interesting if you do.

I am a little on the fence on this topic. On one hand, I completely believe in engeries being "in" and "surrounding" objects. I have had many instances where I have experienced strong energies (what I call the wooda wooda :) ).
Yet my practical side does not want to admit half the time that my cards can hold energies.
Kind of silly thinking for someone that can feel someone's presence when they have been in the same room. I think I may be in denial.

I always have feelings when I put both my hands onto the cards
For the deck I have used for a long time, I feel a bit happy, yet empty, it seems like no matter how much energy i put into my shapeshifter, it can take it all in.
For my new deck, i feel some kind of pressure when I put my hands onto them.
When I tell others about this, they usually think I am crazy but I thihk that the feel comes from us, putting energy into the cards. If it was a pen, a book or whatever, if we put the energy and effort like we do to Tarot Cards, I am sure they would have some energy in it too

I've had similar feelings about my decks: as if they were jealous of some other deck I was working with, and I even had the feeling they would give nonsense answers to spite me ...
But in the meantime, those things have gone for me, and I think that those "nonsense readings to spite me" just came up because I had my mind elsewhere (i.e. on the other deck) and couldn't get fully into the reading.
As for feeling the energy of a deck, I have always felt something, from the very beginning. I feel, while shuffling, some warm tingling feeling in my hands. If this feeling misses, I know that the time is not quite right for a reading. After having spread out my cards to choose the ones for my reading, I close my eyes and browse the spread-out cards with my left hand to feel the rignt ones. Those where this warm tingling feeling comes up I choose, It's like they're calling my attention... ;)
Newly bought decks normally are neutral (sometimes there are residues of energies but which I find can be gotten rid of quite easily), and they very quickly take on my resonance.
With love and light and I wish you all a very happy day!

I like your description Alissa...
For cards and otherwise, I've thought of the energy as sort of a light switch -- or maybe more accurately like a radio dial tuning into a particular frequency and learning to intuitively find that frequency in order to 'listen' at will.
I find that my 'best' readings are when I'm not concentrating on the cards, but just simply being 'open' at the desired frequency.
Energies are an interesting thing. Has anyone read something about it? Recommend an author/title?

Pythagorus discovered that music omitted an energy which we know as 'soundwaves.'
Color does the same, omits an energy that is naked to the eye.
So do our cards, so do we, so do plants, so do rocks, I won't keep rambling on....
But as already stated, we are energy, it is everywhere...

I dun think Tarot cards would be jealous would they?
they are just a reflection of ourselves, its like why would a person's right arm be jealous of the left arm?
talking about energy, does anyone here move crystal pendulums?
like they swing?

Yes, Shapeshifter, that's what I saw later on - that this kinda "jealousy" I though I perceived must have come from myself, from some kind of guilty feeling vis-ŕ-vis one of the decks when working with another... ;)
Talking pendulums: I own several pendulums, one of which is very "energetic" (it isn't crystal, though), and I can "play" with this energy, like changing its wavelength or colour for specific needs... My crystal pendulum has proved less useful for me so that I very rarely use it, except for detecting health problems for a person (which I anyway normally do with my hands alone, without the need of cards or pendulums) - only if the person is not present.

I do use a pendulum. I use it to cleanse the deck after doing a reading. It will spin over cards as it draws out any left over energy. I have also had people use the pendulum to pick cards for a reading. Especailly if they do not have a specific question in mind for the reading. It will pull down towards a specific card. Any way I guess you could say that I do believe that the cards hold their own form of energy just like any other object. You just need to be open to it. Has anyone over used the feeling of energy to pick what pile of cards should represent body, mind and spirit. I can't remember what book it was in but you shuffle and then divide into 3 piles. Rub your hands together and shut your eyes and hold your hand over each separate pile. The feeling you get such as a pull towards the pile is for body if I remember correctly, a lightness or floating upwards for spirit and a neutral for mind.

Alyssa,
Totally agree with everything you've said...especially about henna! I had a real Zen moment the first time I ever sifted and prepared powdered henna. Made me feel like I had done it before, and before, and before - even the smell was comforting and familiar....I also get the same feeling, like two mirrors facing each other, reflecting to eternity, when I stand and hold a clipboard and pen/pencil.
The cards have energy like everything else, and I think the more time you spend with them (or anything), their vibrations and yours harmonize, and a sort of circuit develops.

I think that a lot of the energy in a reading, and perhaps even what one senses in their personal deck, comes from the reader, and in a reading also from the querent and topic of the reading.
There's also an energy in the cards that comes from the creator of the deck, and their intention for the deck. With Thoth, I believe this comes from the artist, Lady Freida Harris, as much as from Aleister Crowley.

I see the cards as mirrors, they reflect the energy that is around them at the time. They absorb energy, to some extent. I feel more desire for some decks more than others, but I feel this is just personal taste; not that the deck contains certain energy that draws me to it.

I work as a freelance henna artist, and working with this plant has taught me a lot. It has a long history, primarily in the mediterraen basin, it's indigineous area, dating back thousands of years BC in its ceremonial and/or ornamental use, and shares a rich spiritual heritage with over 60 world religions, including Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, Christian and many more.
Funny when a plant can unite cultures, countries and religions in a way that nothing else seems to be able to do ....
For more information on every thing henna, I recommend : www.hennapage.com
And if you're so inclined towards practicing your artistry, they're just the crowd to help out.
Wishing you dark colors, long lasting stains and other henna blessings

Maybe I'm just tired from the day when I examine my cards (lately as beginner I've been trying to spend some time just holding them and picking a few random ones to get the meanings down), but twice already I have fallen asleep looking at them, only to find them either on top of the bedspread or underneath me face down. Its like "Rats, I did it again! I hope they are all there!" Poor cards.
Once I woke up, got off of them, and found the hanged man in the middle of the crowd, turned over and reversed. I don't think this turned out to be anything, but I thought it was unusual.
ZZZZzzzz...

Ok, so I've been reading the cards for a while and never felt energy (never tried to) but I was working with Tarot For Yourself recently and she discussed doing Body Mind Spirit readings where you would do the old "run your hands togetehr to fel the aura" routine I'd seen before and the body pile would feel heavy and the spirit pile would feel light. I didn't expect much but when I tried it it worked. Skeptical I've tried it consistantly and it's been working. To my horror though, my favorite deck thatI put aside while working with TFY didn't work with this system. Im hoping to come back to it in a bit but right now I just can't feel it.

I've used it for 12 or more years, and to this day when I look at a card I see new things. I switch to other favorites but keep coming "home" to it eventually.
Maybe your experience was like an overload of information.
