Ooh! I'm envious, too! })
What an opportunity for you! I see her listed at various events, but they take place so far away from my poor midwestern state. :(
Have a great time!
Peace,

It was such a great day! Before I go into the workshop I must say that the best thing about it was the wonderful people that I met there. Wow.
I arrived a little late (about a half hour) because my daughter was at a slumber party last night and when I got there at 10am to pick her up, she was still asleep! Ugggh!! Trying to wake her up was no small task. So I was a half hour late.
When I waltzed in beet red, she was doing open questions and she was discussing (HA!) Reversals! She recommended Mary Greers book and then boasted that she actually thought of a way to read reversals that isn't in Mary's book. Skip them! She also mentioned that if many of the cards are Rx it may mean the person is moving backwards instead of forwards.
After that we moved on to an exercise of creating our own spread. We decided as a group it would be about Thanksgiving. She told us to write down things that we relate to thanksgiving. Then after the brainstorming we made them into postions. I will post this spread and another in the Tarot Spreads forum when I am done here.
Another exercise she gave us was for understanding problem cards and favorite cards. We didn't actually do this due to time, but it sounds like an excellent exercise. Take your least favorite card and describe what it would mean to you if it were in the 'what you should do' possition. For your favorite card, do the same if it ends up in the 'what you should avoid' possition.
After a lunch break during which we all went to the Chinese place next door, I spent an hour getting to know some very wonderful people.

Ahhh, another favorite topic. Court Cards. I feel this exercise coult apply to all the Minor cards as well.
Put all the Pages together, all the Knights, Queens, etc... And describe similar qualities and differences. Who do you relate to? What are the positive and negative qualities of each persona?
Next look at them by suit. What are the differences between the cards by suit. For instance if you put the RW knights like so:
Cups****Wands
Pents***Swords
They are facing each other for one thing. Another is the Wands and Sword Horses are moving (Active) and the Cups and Pent's horses are standing still(Passive). Which look happy in their role? The swords Knight is the only one looking like he is going into battle. Why?
Look for similarities and differences.
Finally we ended with a spread Rachel Pollack designed about how to use the cards to help in a relationship. I will post this in the spread forum ( I have her permission) and give the details there. We had a great time using it once to do a group reading for one person and then we broke off into pairs and did the same reading together with another person. Rachel and her friend Zoey walked around and intergected and helped.
That was the end of the day. It was wonderful. Rachel is a delightful person. It was a pleasure to meet her.
Off to the Spread forum!

CJ, she does this every year at a place called Purple Moon in Danbury CT. Are you anywhere near there? It is exit 5 off of RT 84.
They do a lot of Wicca classes there as well. If you want the phone number let me know. The owner, Theresa will put you on the list of people to contact for the next one.

Mimers, what a wonderful experience. I hope that you and the great people you met at the workshop will be able to stay in touch -- are any of them members of Aeclectic? Thank you for sharing these impressions and exercises. Now I'm off to your thread about the spread...

I did get email addresses :D and have already heard from one of them. They have other Tarot workshops, Wiccan and Godess workshops as well. I told the owner to keep me in the loop. They also have a Thurs evening Tarot get together, but being a Mom, that would be hard for me to make.
Hope you enjoy the spread Rachel passed on. I used it for my parents last night and it was very helpful to them.
Take care,
Mimi

That is so great, about all three -- staying in touch, the prospect of workshops and using the spread with your parents! I have added that wonderful spread to my notebook and plan to use it often. Thank you again for sharing it with us.

Thank you for sharing your day with us - what a wonderful experience!
I will try some of the exercises that you did in the hope that I can raise my rather rudimentary skills a bit.
