If they were to make the Tarot decks with one Less card which one would you have them remove or would you have them add one more card? RWS (Can't believe I would ever think of a question like this)lol

Not one less! No, no, no, no, no!
But one more might be interesting.
Trouble is, most of the ones I can think of are already in there. Teacher (hierophant), Mother (Empress), Lawyer (justice).
How about Accountant? Or Computer Programmer?

Just one more.... the one beyond the Fool. But if we knew what that card was, we probably wouldn't be here to wish it were there. We'd have reached enlightenment and moved on.....

This is precisely the point and I agree very much with this.
I sometimes wish I had a "get out of jail free" card though or a nice coffee card where the tenth time I draw the card I get a nice espresso.

I agree with Diana, maybe one more card to show the Fool at the end of his journey. But really isn't the World sort of that card?

Skytwig,
I agree...my Osho Zen has one extra card, that is blank, and I use it like the rune "Wyrd," to mean there is no telling, it's up for grabs, the variable... I love it. I wish all decks had one.
(for those of you who know the Osho Zen, I switched "The Master" with the blank one, so "the Master" #5 [the hierophant] and the blank one is outside of the numbering system)

But I like the idea of the one beyond Fool, and Wyrd is a good name. What would the image be?

i see accountants and programmers in the knight of pentacles already :D
in my opinion...never a card less!!!...and never a card more, even one representing the fool at the end of his journey; seeing that card may take away one's passion to see what is beyond the world/fool...

For some reason I tend to think that the classic number of 78 cards is for a reason, and it's just right. Then again, a few more could make things more interesting.

MY EXACT THOUGHTS! TO ME THE TAROT OF 78 CARDS IS AS IT SHOULD BE.

I reckon you could add a "Happy Squirrel" card ... but then you'd risk having clientele run screaming from the room each time it came up.
I'd run....
It's almost *too* dark a concept - the idea that there's one card that says, "It's going down ... everything's gone to hell and you're life's going with it ...."
Myself, I like it just the way the deck just the way it is.
