After you shuffle the cards & cut the deck & spread the cards across the table:
If the person picks his/her cards from
the left side is that the past,
the middle , the present
the end (right side), the future
all over back & forth - very confused
straight from left to right- balanced mind
Does this tell what frame of mind your in by the way you pick your cards? Of course I read this somewhere & I watch sometimes just for fun.
If all the cards are picked on the left they are living in the past & on the right living for the future etc. ( as above)

Ros, I normally don't let people pick the cards. I (or they, if around) shuffle then deal. However, you make a good point. It may not be a bad idea to try it that way next time! ;)

Hi Ros
I very often spread the cards out and then pick them rather than dealing them from a stacked deck. I have never read anything in books about what the different patterns of picking cards could mean, so this is just one person's experience.
I don't think I have ever ever picked cards stright from left to right or from only one side of the fan, I always pick this card and that as they draw me to them. Must be my confused mind!
Actually to me the right hand side of the fan feels deeper and more somber and the left hand side of the fan feels more like the surface, and more cheerful. When I was more depressed I tended to pick cards from far to the right side of the fan, but not always.
It might be interesting to ask people how the different parts of the fan feel to them, to see if there is any pattern.

Hi Ros,
I haven't heard of that before, but it is quite interesting and I must remind myself to look at that next time.

--Myrrha I almost always fan my deck after the client has shuffled them, but when reading for myself I glide my right hand over the top of the fanned deck and when I feel heat in my palm, I then choose a card from where I felt that 'pulling' so to speak.:D...and like you said, the cards are drawing you to them..;)
But I don't really notice a pattern as such, but I may have to take more notice and just see if there is one....something to think about hey!!
Cheers

Exactly the way it happens for me :D
Sometimes I do not even need to glide my hands over the fan, I literally see the "right" cards as if they were more luminous than the rest or so... They "stick out", call me. Even light up one after the other, if a specific order is required. (think me weird... ;) )
If my cards want to tell me something especially important, they often just fall out of the deck while shuffling - and I more often than not listen to the sign.
Light and Love
