Hello.
I'm looking for a good incense to use with tarot reading.
Does anyone know of a web source that list incense properties based on the scent ?
I found a couple, but most of them contradict each other.
Thank you,
Xavier

Hi xavier,
I usually use frankincense - a good all round cleansing incense or sandalwood.
Have you tried Starchild - they do oils and incenses, their site has lots of info.
Go to the Sacred Herbs and the Gums and Resins section in the side menu. I think if you click on the info button at the side of each product you'll get the information you nee.
HERE'S a link.
Love and light
Sulis xx

I use an oil burner to provide scent. The oil burner has a well you fill with water. Then you put a drop or two of essential oil in the water and light a candle beneath the well in the oil burner. I tend to use lemongrass and mandarin oils because the smell tends to lift the mood as well as providing a cleansing effect.

You might find this site helpful, Xavier: http://www.spiritonline.com
There's a section on Herbal Healing and the properties of many different kinds of herbs on there which might help you choose the right scent (I hope :)). There's a lot of other good info on that site as well.

GONESH!!! It is my all time favorite. My "hippie" mamma used to burn this in the 70's and I loved it. Since I have been reading Tarot, I burn it all the time. It is very rich, very fragrant, and it not too "smokey". HERE is a link- http://www.gonesh.net/
but you can find it at many local merchants that sell candles and incense.

I use Nag Champa - the best in my view but I also like Nitraj Original - I dont have a web site for them but both are easily found in UK. I also like Sandlewood and Pachouli. Lovely. Have you tried aromatherapy oils in a burner?

As you can see, there is no "best" incense for readings. It all depends on the reader, and what "does it" for him or her.
My personal favorites are Incense from India brand "Sandalwood Supreme," the classic Nag Champa from Auroshika Agarbatti, and Airs brand "Amber Flame."
But, if you want to go on a magickal tangent, and make your own, then the ones associated with divination and psychic ablilities are:
Cinnamon
Saffron
Wormwood
Acacia flowers
bistort/dragonwort
nutmeg

There is one that I buy by Magnifiscents, called "Amethyst-Balance". I find Nag Champa, although a pleasant, happy scent is too heavy. I'll use that whenI am just hanging around. When I use an oil burner I use rose. I find for me the Amethyst makes the clearest readings and the most potent spells.
PS edit: the ingredient are: Sandlewood, CInnamon and Saussurea...
