What deck do you carry to work, in your backpack, your purse etc.?
I usually carry around the Robin Wood or the Radiant.

I usually have a Schaffhouse in my pocket, a Piatnik Marseille (and sometimes others) in my desk at work, often a couple of other Marseilles (Conver or Grimaud) especially in the car...

I don't take a deck with me always - but when I do it is whatever deck I'm using most at the moment - the one in the "special" bag.
Right now it's my Universal.

I keep the small Thoth deck in my briefcase always. I do a 3 card spread when I get to work and leave it out on a piece of silk on the filing room floor next to my office. Lately, I've been lugging the Prague deck with me because I just don't want to leave it at home!

edit: Oh yeah, I usually have Keywords to the Crowley Tarot in my briefcase as well.

Right now I have the Psycards in my briefcase, and I usually carry an RWS or clone deck; right now it's the Albano-Waite.

At the moment I'm carrying around my Moon Garden; it's a very stressful week (lots of lectures and labs) so it's nice to have a 'fluffy' deck with me.

That's a Marseille-style deck published by U. S. Games as the "Tarot Classic."
I get the impression that jmd has had this deck for YEARS, so his copy is most likely "Tarot Ancient," but still, same difference...

I carry the Visconti Gold deck with me everywhere.
I just got a really neat Neoprene bag for it, so now it's all travelproof and ready to hit the road!
When my VG needs a break, I carry my deck of playing cards or my Animal-Wise Tarot.

I carry the miniture Rider Waite because I hate big purses and it's the only one that fits in my little bag. You know they should really make more decks in miniture size or else I'm going to have to get a bigger purse.

Egyptian by Alasia, Lo Scarabeo, in a separate zip-up book bag with book.
I found a used price on a new oracle, called Book of Doors, which will augment and sag my cheerful book bag. So while it's cold out, I'm keeping my profile up as a tribute to breaks with Egyptian romantic revival fun.
(Ever go to lunch with a journal and a deck? If it talks back, it's usually in your head...peaceful).

Usually it's the small version of the Hanson Roberts...which fits nicely into my tiny little pouch I call a purse.
Although...lately I have also gone everywhere with my Phoenix Cards and my Faerie Oracle as well!

Lawguy, for some reason the picture of a professional 'record-label-exec' (?) lugging a briefcase stuffed with tarots around the streets of Toronto strikes me as incredibly funny . . . well, Mimers does it too (the briefcase thing, that is) but being female it's a bit less weird for her . . . or is that just too incredibly sexist for words (sorry . . . I'm female too, if that helps . . . )
I personally carry Ancestral Path--ever since receiving it in trade from Jen, that is. Which is sort of weird, because I disapprove on principle of 'exposing' any deck to the hazards of the backpack . . . (well, in fairness I should add that I've got it triple-wrapped for safety: in silk, faux suede & finally an orange plastic baggie.)

I always carry my Robin Wood with me, no matter what. (Just in case of 'emergency readings'!)
It's getting a bit battered and old now, but that's how I like it.

You know, I'm feeling inspired today...
I think I'll go put my Hanson Roberts in my purse. I've been slowly trying to wean myself from carrying purses the size of small carryon luggage, and I've never made it a habit to carry a deck on me. Less is more, etc etc.
But, of late it seems that Tarot gets mentioned around me more and more, and I'm saying, "I don't have a deck with me," more often.
Time to fix that.
I think I'll go stash the HR in the zipper part of my purse - it will stay relatively undanaged in there. It can live with the miniature Ganesha I carry with me (always and ever, a 1" Ganesha goes with me in my purses ... just ask me and I'll pull it out to show you).

I was carrying the pocket Rider Waite around because its size is very compact but since I've had the Morgan Greer, its this deck that has been my companion. I wish they would do a pocket version the Morgan Greer though lol

I think we all wish they would do a pocket version of our favorite deck. I'm wishing for a pocket version of the Robin Wood. I think publishing companies should pick their three most popular decks and make pocket versions of them. :)

Hey Dark Angel,
I just bought Moon Garden today!! The reason is I'm taking a trip this weekend to visit a friend in Belgium, and I suffer from a lot of apprehension about travelling - it's not that I'm scared the plane will crash, just a general (rather horrible) feeling of disorientation at how new and strange everything is. Silly and irrational I know, but there it is. I'm 41 now and have travelled quite a lot but it still doesn't go away, so I reckon I'm stuck with it. I just thought Moon Garden looked comforting, ideal for some furtive shuffling and peeking on the plane and around the airport, in between sips of Rescue Remedy!
I'll probably bring Tarot of Prague too, if space allows, since my friend wants a reading and, though a newbie at the Tarot, I might give it a try, and ToP is about the 'clearest' deck I have.
When I was in the shop today my greedy, insatiable little eye also fell on a pocket Hanson-Roberts which would be ideal for carrying about in my handbag. So when next payday comes, I doubt I'll be able to resist.
Blessings,
Kate

I’ve thought about this – every day it’s different. I carried the same deck for so many years that I love carrying something different now.
If I’m traveling I like my Japanese/Egyptian. It’s small. Or the pocket Thoth…or both. But in town it’s whatever goes in the pocket. Usually one that’s nice and broken in.
But yeah…grab me on the street someday…I’ll have one on my person. But it could be anything.

I carried the Robin Wood deck with me for about 1 year, but just 2 weeks ago I started carrying the Rider Waite. It was reassuring to see that others are like me in carrying a deck with them. It has become so essential to me, and I find a great comfort in knowing it is within reach when I need it.

elevation......Thank You....
I was wondering if anyone was going to say the Faeries.....
I carry the Tarot of Prague and the Faery Oracle with me and they don't mind sharing the same pouch.....The Faeries always want to have the "last say" of any reading!
Try picking a tarot card and a faery card and reading the meaning conveyed by both together....quite interesting!
P.S. The pouch is taking on some charms of it's own now that both are sharing....LOL (Thanks CJ for the beautiful bag!)

Right now I am carrying around the Robin Wood and the Tarot of the Witches, both residing in the same bag in my backpack. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my Vargo Gothic, and I don't know if that will take the place of the Witches, or just be added to the menagerie. I'll probably just add it in, that way I can have a light, medium or dark theme as suits my mood.

None.
Except on rare occasions, such as last week when we took a drive to see the fire damage. On an impulse, I grabbed my Goddess Tarot on the way out of the house. I didn't use it, but I was glad to have it with me, simply as a friend. The devastation in some of my favorite camping areas--places I spent a lot of happy woodsy times in as a little girl--was terribly depressing. Miles and miles of what used to be forest, and will take a good hundred years to recover. :(
Ordinarily I don't carry Tarot cards with me at all, but it was somehow comforting to have them with me that day. Sorta silly I suppose.

Nevada, I don't think it's silly to carry a deck for comfort. I was in the South of France this summer and saw the devastation of forest fires too. Seeing the blackened trees gave me an sickening sense of devastation. And these weren't the woods of my childhood, so I can imagine how much harder it was for you.
And after all, isn't carrying a Tarot deck better than sipping whisky or taking a pill?? ;)
Blessings,
Kate
