Dealers to watch out for - animeart.com

I hate to do this, but I believe that if there are tarot dealers out there with unacceptable business practices that we should inform our fellow collectors about them. Therefore, I would like to start a thread.

Recently, bought the Yo****aka Amano Tarot from animeart.com. The deck came missing the Ace of Cups. I had encountered similar situations in the past, and the sellers always bent over backwards making accomodations. I figured that at worse they would ask me to return the deck and give me a refund, but this was not this case.

Instead, I got a very rude, tough luck sucker e-mail!

I deal tarot myself sometimes to support my own buying habit, and am committed to seeing that my buyers receive a product that is complete and in stated condition. If that means that I might once in a while have to replace a deck, it happens. I don't think collectors make up stories about missing cards or torn packaging. We are part of a community devoted to sharing an exquisite art form with one another.

It should go without saying that a customer has a reasonable expectation to receiving a complete deck when he/she pays for one!

Anyhow, I hate to say bad things about people, but I don't want to see any of my fellow collectors be ripped of by
animeart.com

I also encourage anyone who has had a similar buying experince to add to this thread with the name of the dealer and their own experience.

Pershaps we should make it a practice to write to such dealers en masse to inform them that the buying public does not accept such selling practices.

I have had so many pleasant tarot buying expereinces, including more than satisfactory dispute resoultions involving similar problems.
Dealers who have been more than accomodating to me in similar situations include:

zebitche and Caitlin who both sell decks on E-bay.

I hope that you consider giving dealers ike these two lovely people your business.

Maybe to keep the energy here positive we should list a good dealer every time we list a bad egg, becaue certainly there are many more dealers committed to customer satisfaction than there are rotten eggs like animeart.com

I've had EXCELLENT buying experiences from:

1, gotarot on ebay,
although his decks are probably more expensive than most. I also check alternatives, but bought two decks that I could find no where else and were out of print.

2. Excellent always from tarotgarden.com

------------------------------

3. Mostly good from flojo on ebay,
although once or twice response was slow during holidays--took a week or two to acknowledge payment and telling me her shipping constraints, since she wasn't checking email.

-----------------------------

Three trades among several here just didn't work quite the way I planned, but
I hopefully satisfied the recipents:

I sent one parcel again overseas, did an Amazon.com shipment when my parcel couldn't seem to get delivered and shipped two decks when one card seemed to be missing.

My only trade on the receiving end that I sometimes sigh about that I am missing a booklet that never arrived.

Welcome to Aeclectic!

I don't know if you made clear whether you purchased your deck on Ebay or directly from the website of the merchant; if from Ebay, there are already procedures to handle bad results, i.e., feedback, mediations, etc. In a non-Ebay situation, unless you have documentation and can prove that you have been cheated, I think that you open yourself to a libel lawsuit by posting derogatory information about a merchant.

Of the two Ebay merchants you mention, one of them may be familiar to us on Aeclectic, if it is the same person who had items up for auction that were discussed in this thread. The name sounds almost identical to the merchant in that situation.

I think that it violates Aeclectic's guidelines on advertising to link to your own website in a post. Hopefully a moderator will be around to offer advice.

Bob has brought up a point which may be valid about libel. It would be better to check what the law says about this kind of public complaint in case you get yourself into trouble about it.

As to Bob's pertinent comment about Advertising, Solandia has just recently updated the guidelines about Advertising, to make things clear for everyone.

Here is the link to the Announcement:

Thanks to everybody for respecting these guidelines, which help keep our forums commercial free.
