When you're having a bad day, what card makes it worse?
7 of swords, somedays I'd like to tell him to get rid of his smurk & I'd like to stomp on his hat. lol (He makes me mad)

Ros: What does 7-Swords mean to ye? It need not mean the same thing each time, but perhaps ye are responding to it on a gut or inner level.

I suppose there are a lot of cards that could make a bad day worse.
I'd go with the Devil, Five of Swords...a few others. Just no fun at all!

MeeWah: He just reminds me of the ultimate sneeky person.I don't like him & when I'm in a bad mood...
I don't like this when this card comes up for a nice person & you sort or know what is going on.
Is there anything good about this card? Mabee I don't understand it. Also I'm not competitive mabee that's why I don't like challenging cards. lol
Some meaning I have is "becareful how you use informatin given to you" & "Challenge we choose freely" "opposition" ...

I have never had a card come up in a reading that has made a bad day worse...
Simply because if I'm having a bad day, it puts me in a 'defiant' mood... So I'll see the cards and it'll be this reaction:
"Seven of Swords eh? Well I'll show you! Gonna make you into a 10 of Cups and then where will you be, eh?" *Blows raspberry at cards.
I see these kinds of cards as challenges to change, instead of warnings of the inevitable.

In my humble opinion:
Depending on the question, as well as on the position on a spread, the 7 of swords can have positive meanings like "collecting informations or ideas" among a few others...

I don't think that a card can make your day bad.. only if you let it.
I do think that it can reflect a bad day however.

reminds me I'd like to be soul-gathering for myself rather than wool-gathering wits for others when it's one of the necessarily busy sheep-shearing days at work...yes I want to be alone rather amidst others on a bahhhd day. (Sorry it has been one of those weeks)
The card reflecting my longing when my circumstance differs shows a mirror of my frustration...so I can relate...sigh.

Just would like to say how much I'm enjoying all the questions that you're asking.
I like the Seven of Swords. I didn't always like it but over the years it has taken on a different meaning for me than the traditional one of sneakyness. (I don't think that's a real word?)
When I see it now it's a reminder that there is a problem in my life or something I need to take care of. And if I do it right now it will remain a little problem easy to handle, but if I don't it could become something very big and messy.
For me the man in the card is stealing those swords to avoid a blood battle in the morning.
His one little act today will save lives tommorrow.
I see the more traditional meaning to, if my intuition leads me there. It just depends on the situation.
As Kiama said it's a challenge to change.

I like that interpretation, lark. Sort of like a good kind of stealing :D

As I was reading the posts here I was hit by this thought: different realities. ROS describes a negative reaction to a specific card, that is made worse when it appears on "bad days". Then there was Kiama's statement about never having had a card come up that made a bad day worse; that she takes bad cards and turns them around. I think both people are valid in their experiences, yet different. The concept of turning negatives into positives is basically healthy, but not always the best way to deal with things. There are things that will happen in life that are inherently negative and we must learn to face them. We will all cope differently. Maybe ROS' ideas of telling the guy in the 7 swords off and stomping on his hat is her way of empowering herself against this negative image; it is no less real or valid then Kiama's defiant way of turning the image into a different card all together. In some ways maybe ROS is dealing with the reality of it, while Kiama is escaping the reality of it. It reminds me of the PISCES/VIRGO opposition.....dreamer vs realist, believer vs analyst. BOTH have a place and are important, just different...neither one better than the other...ideally coming together to form a balance.

The card I hate to get in the future position is the 10 of swords--I always take that as a warning of a bad time coming--stabbed in the back by the whole gang!
I have always seen the 7 of swords as a bit related to secretive tarot knowledge--we escape "over the wall," away from the community tents, carrying information, knowledge, and thoughts that we will carry with us for power in the next place.
