The thread on Certification has also made me reflect on appropriate ways in which someone may be acknowledged as having contributed in a significant manner to Tarot without thereby being awarded a Grand Master (or equivalent titled) certificate...
I suppose that the recognition for significant achievement is somewhat subjective, for some of us may also view the achievement has possibly having been, though successful, somewhat detrimental. For myself, I consider Alliette's contributions in this category, and his deck, though extremely successful and influential, a hindrance to deepening Tarot.
I write this realising some may disagreement, and trust the may each expresses their post.
For myself, and though I also happen to disagree with both some of the impulse from which he works and some of the conclusions he reaches, I would have to place Michael Dummett as one - amongst others - who deserves such high accolade.

I agree that Michael Dummett should have a place there. (I found at a few weeks ago that Dummett is also an anti-realist philosopher who crops up every now and then in my lectures...)
I would say that Rachel Pollack needs to have a place there aswell, because she has written so many brilliant books on the Tarot (78 Degrees of Wisdom being seen as one of the best books out there for beginners by many people.)
Mary K Greer, also for her books and her new and unique take on Tarot. (Tarot For Yourself.)
Aleister Crowley, for giving us the wonderful Thoth deck and the fact that he helped instill in the Tarot an occult and Hermetic side. (And of course, Lady Frieda Harris for painting the deck!)
Diane Wilkes, the webmistress of Tarot Passages (www.tarotpassages.com), because she offers through the website a continually renewing resource for all things Tarot: I've found it to be an excellent place to go when I'm either looking for deck reviews, book reviews, or the latest news in the Tarot world.
And finally, our very own Solandia... I think Aeclectic is one of the best Tarot forums and resources on the net (I believe we may be the largest now, correct me if I'm wrong...) and its existence has brought so many people to a new and/or deeper understanding of Tarot, aswell as providing a support and community for them.
*Three cheers!*
