Last night I did my first 'job' reading professionally. I had a lot of fun and it all went really well.
Lawguy hooked me up with a friend of his looking for a Tarot reader at their company Holiday party. Thanks Lawguy for hooking me up and reccomending me! You have great friends!
Once I got going it just flowed. The trick was just to relax. Every time I took a sip of water, I thought of Umbrae and his advise to always drink a lot of water! LOL.
So now I can say to everyone a little nervous about taking that first step, go for it, it's no problem!
My niece made me business cards and every one grabbed them. Many came back for more readings with more questions, so I feel I did good.
Anyway the whole experience was great. Just have fun with it.

Wonderful, Mimers :)
That sense of inner trust, that sense that you do know what the cards are saying, combined with relaxing into the situation at hand!
Like Umbrae has also said elsewhere - to read for others is so important in developing one's skills :)
What a great WonderGuy51 our LG is ;)

Thanks jmd and Jewel-ry!
Well, I am off to my day job now. Rather sluggishly I might add. Didn't get to bed until after midnight!

Hey Mimers...way to go.
I envy you a bit as I would like to do it professionally as well. I cannot force myself to start. I'm way too scared.
I'm happy for you though :o)

Sounds like a wonderful start to the newest phase of your Tarot adventures!

Hi Mimers,
Well done you!!!....... you must feel so proud of yourself, Can you tell me what deck you chose to use, or did you change decks depending on the question. Did you ever get a 'blank' - this is what scares me. Great news..............

Very happy for you, Mimers! I´ve never read for money myself, but I wouldn´t be averse to starting. Thanks for posting this note about your first step on that road. So very good to know it was a positive experience!

Well done.
I have problems reading for people I know in person let alone strangers.
Give yourself a huge pat on the back.........or better still, why not treat yourself to a new tarot deck .......you deserve it ;)
Love and light

Thanks everyone for your support!
After doing this, I realize I would love to do it again! I have read for people in coffee shops, etc, however, never charged for them.
I used my trusty Universal Rider Waite for most of them. I used the Tarot of Prague as well.
Thanks again!
I got the bug!

Mimers: this is really good news. It's always so wonderful to read for people and to get paid for it is even more gratifying!
Hope you continue down this road.

What a step, Mimers! You sound like you are on a high from it to boot! :)
And with my favorite reading deck... the UW. By the way, I just ordered the Tarot of Prague today. The fact you like both the UW and the Tarot of Prague, makes me more excited to get my hands on ToP.
Here's to more professional bookings and clients coming your way! I hope to join you in the near future, I hope it will be as positive as your experience.

It's brilliant. Just lovely to hear. Well done to both you and Lawguy.
I agree with jmd, at some point it's just about relaxing and trusting your own intuition - and the cards. Sounds like you did a great job of doing that.
I get a real buzz from knowing ToP was there - thank-you!

Thanks again everyone for your encouragement. Hopefully now things will roll. My niece made some very nice business cards for me on her computer, and just about everyone took a card.

Baba,
I only used your deck for a few readings. Mostly because towards the end, people were, well, starting to feel 'jolly' and I was afraid a drink or too would be spilt. It did get looked at a lot though while people were waiting. It received many ooohs and ahhhs.

Outstanding and excellent, Mimers! What a great start for you, and a good confidence-builder, too!
A suggestion for a deck to use in "drunken xmas party" readings: the Radiant Rider-Waite, because the plastic content in this deck is so high that a spilled drink would have absolutely no effect at all, so that the cards could be used as coasters in a pinch! :smoker: :joke:

Good job. And should a drink get spilled on your cards – it gives them a ‘broken in look’, and contact me and I’ll walk you through how to make them not ‘stick’. I love to use unusual decks at groups.
Congratulations.

Umbrae,
I would love any advice from you! As far as the drink spills, that is fine with any deck other than the TofP being that there are only so many to be had. :)
I was glad I brought the spare deck!

If I drink water like that I can't stop going to the ladies room.
Congratulations!
