:(I just returned from the mail box holding the one item no one wants to receive:(. A priority envelope with a large tear, stamped received without contents by my local post office. I have submitted an inquiry, now all I can do is wait and hope...

What deck was it, by the way? Can it be replaced? If it is a fault of the packing, maybe the seller will be conscientious enough to offer a replacement. For myself, unless I am buying a hard-to-find deck, I usually don't bother with insurance; I imagine that you have already heard that question a few times today.
Good luck with your quest. I hope that it works out.

It was Hanson Roberts so it can be replaced. (In fact the sender has already offered to do so.) It was well packaged, the sender had even sealed the top with tape. From the looks of the damaged envelope, it appears possible it might have caught and torn in the sorting process. The tear started on one of the side edges about half way down and went about a third of the way across the face leaving a hole just large enough for for the deck to fit through. The person I spoke with at the post office said there is about a 60% chance they can locate it. It seems they do have a sort of lost and recovered process for items that become seperated from the packaging but it will take a couple of days to check the facilities along the path, so hopefully... They said I should expect a call back by mid week. Hopefully it just took a side trip on the way.

LadyMedusa.
I am so sorry for your lose! I can understand how you feel. A replacement is ok, but never quite the same as the original. I hope the post office is able to find it for you and in good condition.
Imagine the story it will be able to tell.

I love the Hanson Roberts deck, glad you have a happy ending to your story.
Some postal workers are now figuring out how to play poker with this deck.

The USPS just called.
I guess the deck is in the 40% that is not found. :(sigh.......
I hope it finds a good home.
