Did anyone watch the episode shown on UK television last night?
They went to the fair and Ted had a tarot reading. Of course, first card... Death. So the reader explains that it means metamorphosis etc. Second card... Death. Third card... Death.
Tarot reader: "That's strange. There's only supposed to be one."
Poor Ted. He then fell off a levitating bench and had to be completely plastered!

I liked the notion that Fortune Telling was somehow no less credible than "that ol' rubbish we were taught at catholic (priesthood) seminary..." God, angels, the afterlife etc. etc.???
Well the BBC may lack a bit in integrity, but we're still amongst the world's funniest? Another one from the oppostion ITV -
What a headline? "Exploding whale causes a real stink"! })

That's what I love about Father Dougal - he just isn't meant to be a priest.

I did like that :) especially Ted's excuse that the metamorphosis of the Death card related to a new light he was getting for his bicycle :)

They used to show Father Ted on BBCAmerica, but it's been ages now. I miss Hetty Wainthrop too!

Hi Dark_angel,
I wish I had that show here! It sounds like something right up my alley. :-)
Joy to you,

Hi Dexter, I think it has only ever been shown on UK channel 4, and I don't think they bought it from the BBC.

Father Ted was excellent, and all the Irish people I knew watched it religeously (excuse the deliberate pun)!
At least who ever wrote that script knew a little about the meaning of Tarot, and explained it to the audience. I guess for many people Death means the end, not the half way stage. That's a nice thing about the Tarot of the Old Path, Death is renamed The Close.

Gah! Tis not British comedy. It is Irish comedy. No fair you guys claiming our stuff!
Although maybe we could negotiate - Britain can claim our comedy if we can claim their rugby team :)
