Has anyone ever passed out giving a ready or had an anxiety attack?
At first I use to shake & one person asked me why I was shaking, I told them I had too much coffee. Then I realized
what energy can do to you & started being aware of what I was doing!
Once I felt like running up the side of the wall across the ceiling & down the other side untill I sat down to do the reading.
Any other stories?

I've never passed out, and I hope I never do. But I have gotten extremely dizzy a handful of times, and when that happens, I usually tell my reader they need to watch their blood pressure, their physical health.
And, yeah, I've had readings that left me shaking, or crying, or just plain ... jazzed, hyper. Riding the energy current is like that, I think. It's a roller coaster ride.

Before I learned how to ground and center I used to get dizzy from the energy. I would feel like my brain ached. Like I was using a part of it I never used before.
I once did a reading for a woman who was afraid of her husband. The fear she felt slammed into me like a ten ton truck.
It was all I could do to stay in my chair and get ahold of myself so I could finish the reading.
Needless to say I advised her to seek help at a shelter for battered women. Hope she did.

It happened to me many many moons ago, when I was just starting out doing readings on a professional basis.
I was at a Halloween party, and I had not done any grounding before hand (mostly because I was arrogant enough to think I didn't need to...) And I spent the evening sucking energy from my querants.
As the line of people to be be read statrted to dwindle sufficiently enough for me to take a break, I stood up to stretch...
...and immediately fell over.
I was unconcious for a few seconds, but enough for the people in the room to get really worried.
It turned out, that I had started doing the readings at around 7 in the evening...and it was now a little past 6 in the morning!
I completely, and utterly, lost track of the time!
When I arrived home, I slept for about an hour, and then went to a drumming circle, where I broke a womans rattle, because it had gotten too close to my feet (where all my energy was leaking at an alarming rate!)
The woman helped me to ground, and to center, and I ended up falling asleep amidst all the drumming!
I like to think I am a lot wiser now...and I ALWAYS ground myself now before I do readings for anyone, including myself.
But occassionally, I do still get a bit dizzy after certain clients...even with grounding, centering and loads of early preperations!

How to you ground yourself?

I NEVER passed out in my entire life.
If I ever do, I will immediately seek professional help.
Passing out means that your brain is not receiving the proper amount of blood/oxigen. It doesn't happen as a result of a reading, given or received, but if it does, something in your phisiology must be really wrong.

Alex. Then how do you explain when people pass out, i.e. faint, under moments of extreme shock?

I think it would be the stress of the shock aggravating a pre-existing condition. The only period of time that I know of where "fainting" was common, was back in the days of women wearing corsets, thereby, cutting off blood flow, like a previous poster said. Even at that, I understand most of it was for "effect". ;)

People can faint due to shock or stress. (Because the heart starts beating either too slow or too fast, or irregularly. And the brain doesn't get the right amount of blood.)

X is right on both accounts. Anyone watched Pirates of the Carribean? *gRiNz*
Corsets were whalebone that women in the past wore to maintain the desired body shape. When tying corsets on, the women would have to hold in their breath, so you can guess what that does to your blood circulation. Evil things, corsets!
Also, there was an era whereby the women were thought to be frail, gentle and weak creatures, pretty and totally brainless. Thus anything harsh or sudden or "manly" sent them to fainting spells. And yes, X, for "effect" indeed - fainting spells assured the men that a lady was truly a lady. *rolls eyes*
But.. why are we talking about passing out anyway... LoL... this IS a tarot forum after all.

I just asked the question in wondering if any one who gave a reading had got so anxious that they passed out from the stress of doing the reading.

Could be blood pressure too, if it drops too fast, you can pass out.
I've passed out twice, both times I was in day #2 of the flu, but it was for only a few seconds. Still, not fun, you get disoriented. I shouldn't have been walking around in either case, which is what probably caused it.
Considering the person said they'd been doing readings without moving for about 6 hours, it's very likely that between the focusing, the lack of motion, then the sudden standing up all contributed. Maybe even lack of food and/or water.

To clear up my "passing out" story...
I had actually been reading continuously for 11 hours when it happened...
I had had one glass of diet soda at the beginning of the evening, and nothing else to eat or drink...
I was feeling fine! Actually, I was feeling great! I had been (rather unconciously) sucking the energy from every person I was reading for!
And then I stopped and I tried to stand up.
But to be fair...at the time, there was an unknown glitch in my physiology as well...I had a thyroid condition that I didn't even know about!
I am also not saying that everyone needs to Ground and Center before they do any kind of reading. But as I have a sensitive body, and I am prone to going long periods of time doing continuous readings without stopping (though thankfully, never again for 11 hours straight!) I find Grounding to be a very good practice!
I know now, that Nobody should ever read for that long (or even for any continuous hours) without some kind of break...no matter how "fine" you feel, or how long the line is, or how much you don't want to disappoint people who have been waiting!
Most Querents understand!
Take it from me...passing out is really no fun...

To me, it all depends on the reading itself. Some readings drain me, others not as much.
I remember when I did readings in a party, I read for two hours in a row (did a 10 minuts stop in-between). As I was doing the readings, everything was ok, the problem was after the party - I just had a huge headache and felt like my body had little strenght.
On the nex day my head was still weird, as if I was with a hangover (hey, I only drank juice at the party... in case you're wondering :P ).
