I'm thinking of doing some tarot readings for a little extra cash on the side. A part time deal, probably only for people I know already or people who have been referred to me. I wouldn't like to read in my home because of security issues. (Also, my house is a perpetual mess.) All the local metaphysical stores already have readers.
Anyone have any ideas for places I could read with clients?

I don't know if you'd want to read in this environment - but some night clubs or bars may let you work there. Especially if they're locally owned.
How about local coffee shops? They may have a more private area to read in or if it was summertime I'd say try a park.

Also, you can reserve private rooms at a library.

My nail/hair/tanning shop actually had a psychic reader come in on occasion.
The atmosphere is very relaxed and homey there, good clientel.
Ahe has a private room that is used for miscellaneous services, like massage, waxing, electrolisis, and well readings :D
We always joke that it is a full service (almost) salon.
Maybe something like that if you have a "homey type" salon in your area.

How about a "marché aux puces"? Just checked in my dictionary, a flea market? You know, inside some big building, and people rent booth, some kind of space inside. There are usually lots of people who sell crystals and a few readers in there, among things more regular like selling books and clothes. My mother's cartomancienne (cards reader - cartomancy) had a space there. It's not like a shop and you're stuck with a big rent to pay for a year. I think there you can rent space for a few weeks, so if you don't like it, or if it's not working, you can leave.

I like this idea. I bet readings would be a big hit in this type of environment. Even if you only worked one day a week - like you worked all saturday and the salon could advertise that saturdays are when the Reader is there and you could take walk-ins.
