What is the most powerful deck you've ever encountered?

Morgan-Greer, without a doubt. Picking up that deck was a transformation; before that I didn't believe that a pack of cards could tell you anything, but then I felt a huge pull from the cards and though "Right, I'm going to understand you guys". I don't understand them yet, but I'm eternally grateful to them for posing the challenge. :)
I find that a lot of my favourite readings are done using my Ananda tarot, which is like exploring a vast dreamworld; especially accurate with relationship readings, I've found.
And for the deck with most personality - Faeries Oracle. If you have one, you'll understand. :D

I don't think I have found my power deck yet. I agree with Dark Angel about Morgan Greer though. The first reading with this deck was so dead on, it scared me.
The first deck I purchased which "called to me" was the Medieval Scapini deck. However, I have only done one reading with it and it didn't hold the same magic as the MG. I hope to try another reading with it someday (maybe when the companion book is finally published later this year).
I haven't done readings with all my decks yet (darn they pile up fast), but I am anxiously awaiting my copy of the Golden Tarot. I am hoping it is "the one". The Tarot of Prague has potential and I love the artwork, but the cardstock hindered me a bit on my first reading.

Cosmic Tarot.
The blend of traditional, contemporary, and extremely modern symbols calls for the new tarot reader once they let themselves be known.
4 petnacles, telephone and car
9 pentacles, car
9 swords, plane and tank
2 pentacles, the man is wearing jeans and a t=shirt
6 pentacles, once again, jeans and a t-shirt
to boot the final power protocols (to sound like a technomage) the prince of cups, the prince of pentacles and a few of teh court images look like me, the prince of wands and the king of cups look like my friends. Never mind a photograph, the Cosmic Tarot presents a clearer view of the peopel i know than any other.
I have posted soem study threds in the general category on this deck, worth reading.

None of my decks seem to have any more power than the next. In fact, none of them seem to have power at all. Depth or shock value, maybe. But the energy is in the querent, IMHO...

Osho Zen Tarot. My readings with it are POWERFUL. It is amazing.

Definitely Aleister Crowley's Thoth deck. I rarely read with it because it actually makes me feel physically nauseous and I feel something very strange from it. No other deck has ever had this effect on me, although there are other decks that I feel very connected with.

I would also say my most powerful deck so far would be the Thoth. Accept I don't have any odd side effects with it. (Not to say that you are odd, Ruby ;) ).
I wanted to add that Froud's Faeries would be my power oracle deck :D
Congrats on your 100th post, Triquetra :).. Hope to see many more.

The decks which have had the most profound affect on me are the H.P. Lovecraft, because it was the breakthrough deck that let me really see the essence behind the images; perhaps because the images are unconnected to any everyday experience, historical period or other touchstone. It was like the masks were ripped off and I finally saw the cards true faces. Then the Margarete Petersen and the Templar because they stir my subconcious as no other decks do. In fact, I have to limit how much I use the Margarete Petersen because too much subconcious activity coming to the fore while I'm trying to get everyday stuff done can be distracting.

Hmmm, Galadriel... looks like I'll have to find the Lovecraft somewhere. I've been looking for a deck that doesn't beat around the bush :) *Glares at irksome pretentious symbolism on the Spiral... no one kill me for that, please*

The definition of 'powerful' varies from person to person. For this thread, I shall be using the definition of powerful as 'the effect it has on the reader, or the relationship the reader has with the deck'.
Following this definition, some of the most 'powerful' decks I've come across are:
- Thoth. Just amazing. There is so much insight in the pictures, so much symbolism hidden in there. All this hidden wisdom makes it powerful for me.
- Mary-el Tarot, purely because of its effect on me. I mentioned in a post in Tarot Decks that this deck made me burst into tears because it was as thought the artist had painted my soul onto 26 cards...
- William Blake Tarot of the Creative Imagination. Another deck that has alot of hidden wisdom and depth, and yet another deck that made me burst into tears because of how well I relate to it.
- Robin Wood. It may be because I've been using it for about 3-4 years now, but I have found some of my best readings to be given with this deck. When I use it, it is more of a platform from which I can just 'read', or as Umbrae might put it, 'read between the cards'... I can't explain it, but it happens and it works.
- Osho Zen. Mainly because of the philosophical system it is based on, I think this deck 'tells it like it is'. The teachings behind the cards almost require you to read in a different manner, but not in a manner that you wuldn't want to read in...
So, those are the decks I've found to be most 'powerful' (using the definition of 'powerful' described above.) Note however, that these decks aren't necessarily some of my favourites... })

Amazon.com has it for $40.00, and you can read my review of it there.
Tarotgarden.com also has it for $40.00. Then there is always ebay and the Tarot Trading part of this forum.

Hi,
Hmmm...most powerful deck, in my case, decks, that I had an instant connection with as soon as I saw them would be Voyager, Quest, Gilded, Tarot of Timeless Truth and Ananda.
Joy to you,
Maralee
