Cat problem

Does anyone else have this problem?
It doesn't matter if I lock the cats in the laundry, or put them outside, feed them, not feed them, give them lots of attention or none at all - as soon as I start reading tarot, they appear from nowhere and get up on the table to lie all over the cards.
I know they are talented when it comes to sitting on the very newspaper article you want to read, but how the #@*& do they get out of the locked laundry to come 'help'? There's no one else home when I do these readings.
I thought at first it was b/c I was using the Tarot of the Cat People, but they do it with the Robin Wood deck, and Shapeshifter as well, and my Medicine Cards.

I suppose they sense these things :D

I don't have too much of a problem with my cat when I'm doing readings. If I leave the cards laying out she'll usually walk all over them, or at least between them. She attacks my Faeries Oracle though, because they mock her :)

Mocking how? I like the idea. I thought the only way to mock a cat was to follow it and watch while it went to the toilet.

katrananda,

This phenomenon has been well documented among Aeclectians.

There are as many theories about it, as there are Cat Servants. My personal one ... because of their small paws they are unable to efficently shuffle a deck and deal a spread themselves, they find it necessary to have the human caretakers do it for them.

Well as those who have the Faeries Oracle know (heh heh) they are quite different from a normal deck...if you believe in the faeries they will come to you and show themselves through the cards. I had them spread out on the floor face down but my cat kept attacking them as if they were moving. And the first one she jumped was the one I had just dubbed my least appealing faery :)

Well I don't have a problem with them getting out of locked rooms. I have two.. each one with their quirks.

Evy, the baby.. every time I come to AT, she hops up on my desks and sits right infront of me. All perched up and ready to read what I'm trying to read. Heaven forbid I scoot her over a little bit. She slides right back over in front of my line of sight and stares at the screen. Every time!

Not only am I addicted to AT, but now one of my kittens is.. *sigh* lol

Then there is Salem.. oh when will he learn?
Learn not to mess with the faeries that is.. lol
When I am playing with my Faeries, he comes over, sniffs.. bounces and sneezes.

Mind you I haven't treated these cards with any incense or what not. He paws at the cards, sniffs, sneezes. Its cute and funny when he takes off running.. :D

When the cards are being laid out on the table, carpet, couch, bed... anywhere, my kitten is there in a flash! He always runs over just to 'check out' what I am doing and to sniff everything. This always puts a smile on my face!

My cat Kano, since reaching adulthood (when she was a kitten she chewed a few cards), had been largly indifferent to my decks until I got the Greenwood. She comes from wherever when I use that deck to rub against it, or roll on the cards, or just sit and watch.

HudsonGray  06 Feb 2004
I think they're attracted to the energy--either from you or the cards. I've got one who sits & purrs just sucking up all the free energy on the table. I've noticed that the louder she purrs, the more 'on target' the reading is.

Only hours after a long discussion about Crone-dom with a girlfriend(honest, we're nowhere near it!!), I visited a Crone friend of mine and she presented me with a 9 week old kitten. Shadi has now been with us one night, and has developed an unnatural attachment to my Shapeshifter deck. Got into a locked room, unravelled the scarf around the deck, and sorted through until she found a suitable selection to sleep on.
This little girl obviously sees herself as a Queen b/c she found 3 out of the 4 Goddess cards.
My house is getting wierder by the moment.....

I haven't really seen any reaction my cat has to my decks, but he LOVES to inspect every single occult book I buy, not to mention being in the middle of every single ritual I do. >.<

That makes me laugh, it's wonderful. But it's also very strange. Are you sure your door locks work? Cause I know cats are curious and persistent but I don't recall ever seeing one unlock a locked door...spirits perhaps? :D

First of all, the cat i had a companion for nearly 17 years died around thi time last year, she as a part siamese tortishell/calico, her hearing was shot but she always knew what you were telling her. she never interfeared with my readings but my 5 year old part ragdoll female cat loves to try and tell you what she thinks the readings mean (shes a gemini). Even though her entire borttom half of her coat is white, her paws are black and spotted pink.

My still growing young virgo kitten has his own quirks when it comes to the cards but then again i have also trained him to jump on my shoulders and chill. He loves to lay on my lap when i type (he also loves to type).

They react to the cards like they are aware of the true power they hold, and more than likely, they do. Many times a cat will be the first warning that things are not as they seem. I do make sure they don't "sit" on my cards, that i wont tolereate.

All this said, i think i will grab my faeiries oracle real quick.
