Cleansing a Deck!

I was wondering if any of you had any rituals on cleansing a deck? I got a the New Gothic Tarot today and Ran each card under a Sandle Wood insent and place a crystal ontop. Im intrested in hearing about your rituals for cleansing a deck.

LOL, I go through card by card making sure there's nothing sticky on them if it's a used deck. That's about it! I have, in the past, put a deck under the light of a full moon. But that's really the only deck I ever 'cleansed' with magical intent.

I wouldn't recommend too much soap and water, nor steel wool. A little dab of water may be OK depending on the lamination of the card. I've done that with one used deck I bought.

I go thru the cards making sure the deck is complete. If it is a pre-owned deck I put them in order and clean off any mucky stuff with a damp cloth. If they don't shuffle smoothly I buff them with a piece of fleece cloth that has been very lightly sprinkled with corn starch. Then I shuffle until they feel ready to read, sometimes this takes a few minutes, sometimes it takes a few days. As soon as I find the right fabric, I make a bag for them. I put a mini stick of incense in the side seam of the bag to make them and their box smell good. LadyMedusa

Just hold them in your hands and meditate quitely with them until you feel that it's enough. Also shuffle through them & try and get familiar with each card, this way the cards can get to know you better as well.

I don't put any faith in ritual cleansing since this is mostly a mental prop. If it makes you feel any better, you could put the deck in a room with a double-CD of the Beatles and leave it there, with the door shut, for a few hours. After that, your deck should be pretty mellow. It also works on people I'm told.

I just shuffle mine - usually during a baseball game... Spring trainging is only a few weeks away!

The Blue one, the Red one or the White one? ol_crazy_legs: You will see from the above posts that a number of us do not believe in Rituals and Cleansing. Rusty Neon's post was probably one that a lot of us would have loved to have written, but he got there before us and now it's his (no way we would dare steal his idea from him. :laugh: ) But there are also a number of people on Aeclectic who do Cleanse their decks. There have been so many threads on Aeclectic in the past about this, that I suggest you do a Search and you will surely find at least a dozen or more threads in no time. :)

New or used, I really don't do rituals for my decks.. A little wipe here, a little fresh smell with incense there, and a whole lot of shuffling. But I just like the feeling of shuffling heh.. Other than that.. thats really all I do too.. *shrugs* ~ Amaya

Shuffle... shuffle... and more shuffling! I do check to see that all the cards are counted for when I get a new deck, and then all I do is shuffle!
