I brought to my mother my newly acquired deck and the ones I received as gifts. She liked three in particular, one the Gypsy LeNormand, it made quite an impression on her. My mother told me that when she hold it, she could feel the electrical energy in the deck. She told me this one was very special and that I should use it often. She really liked The Crystal Tarot and the third to really impress her was The Light and Shadow Tarot (that I bought). She liked the Gypsy LeNormand and The Light and Shadow Tarot so much that she told me I had to read her with them right here right now. I did. She scorned the other decks though (Diamond Tarot, Thoth Tarot, Fairy Tarot, Tarot Nova).
Afterwards, I ask her how she was capable to feel the decks like that. I'm always at loss because I'm surrended by intuitive people who can feel things while me all I get is nada. After a few minutes of cencentration on my hand, while I was holding the Gypsy LeNormand, I felt warmth coming from the deck and some electricity. Excited, I hold The Crystal and felt some warmth, but no electricity like the Gypsy. So, I came back home, with the resolution to try to feel all my decks and sense which ones are special.
-I was very happy, to feel the same warmth and even more electricity then the Gypsy LeNormand, when I hold my beloved Gothic Tarot (Vargo).
-I felt the same with my Enchanted Tarot (Zerner-Farber).
-I felt electricity and numbness coming from my Thoth Tarot, it was a bit painful.
-I felt some electricity from my Tarot de Marseilles Fournier.
-I felt electricity from my Light and Shadow Tarot.
-I felt electricity and warmth from my Madame Eudora's Fortune Cards.
-I felt electricity from my Good Witch Bad Witch oracle deck.
-I felt electricity from my Lord Of The Rings Oracle deck.
By the way, I'm not mentionning the tarot and oracles decks whom I felt nothing.
What about you? Have you ever thought about trying out to feel your decks like that, and what were the results? Would you like to try out your decks?

I use RWS & they just feel like playing cards to me, so they are comfortable.
I am trying to study Thoth from the purple box & there is nothing. I like the cards but it is just blah. I don't know if it will change. I wanted to study something different & I think this is a no for me.
Nice question!

I used to sleep on a mattress on the floor, with my Tarot (just a few then!) in a line near the bed. One night I reached out and could feel the energy coming off my main deck. I keep my decks in silk, in wooden boxes. Through this I could feel a warmth from the deck I use the most.

but a blessing by my sis' art eye and even though it is missing one card, I decided not to exchange it.
There is no electricity for me in this deck. It is a nice design and the woodcuts are warm, the commentary warmer and lovely--but I feel nothing in it's squareness and the warmth of association.
However this is like a few decks that come alive because I've read or associated something special--for instance, the Lovers Tarot, 22 and 78 card version is also blessed with a warm visit and presence of being with friendly relatives.
My one remaining I-Ching deck with the French words and Chinese brushstrokes by Grimaud usually falls down with a slippery tilt and the upright cards usually have bird and flowers. Of course the two grandmothers that I showed the pretty Asian style just smiled at my fancy---but the one who recycled used seeds, sequins, sewing novelties and material to make 'paintings' always did bird and flower pictures. We remembered her last week.
Of course, the card that just fell down right now, face up, is adorned with such birds and leaves titled "Kia Jen-La Famille." A warm message, like her.
Thanks for the thread. I am amused that your mother liked the Gipsy Witch and hope you have beautiful readings with it!

The Rohrig always seems to give off really good vibes, I like to shuffle those, just sit and shuffle and look at the artwork.
The Morgan Greer is very comfortable, it just feels right.
I used to get the same feeling off the Spiral tarot but not anymore.
The Osho Zen is very spiritual, I've never had a deck like this before, just one card can make a reading - they are very deep cards.
The green tinged Thoth I don't like, the vibes I get off that make my hands feel dirty - like when you touched something and you just want to scrub your hands clean. I think it must be the green colour because the smaller vivid Thoth feels altogether different, very good deck to handle.
I can't think of any other decks that feel different when I handle them. :)

You're all describing Clairsentience, or one aspect of it. Carry on!

I think that the feelings, energy, or "vibes" I get from my tarot decks comes from the experiences and associations I create as I commune with the cards.
My Visconti Gold, for example, is a deck I have worked with for all the time I've studied tarot, and I likewise get a very strong feeling of comfort, like I get with a broken-in pair of shoes.
My Voyager is another long-time companion that I studied extensively, even when I was unable to handle the cards for readings.
Consequently, I have an intensely deep-thinking kind of energy with the Voyager, which in turn produces very intense, deep, and thoughtful readings.
My Animal-Wise Tarot is a very spiritual and...well, wise deck!
The energy from this deck is always especially emotional for me.
It is the same with my Healing Angels; this is the deck I use when I want a Divine Hug....the angels truly heal!
Ultimately, though, I believe the energy comes from me.

I'm going to have to try this with my decks and see what I get from them. :-)
