One question ppl.
Sometimes, when you're shuffling, do you ever find that a card suddenly flings out of nowhere, flip upside down, & lands directly in front of your face?
This usually happens when I do my daily readings.
It distracts me bigtime. I start laughing.
Should I include the card as part of the reading, or just ignore it, maybe the deck is too big for my hands?

Btw: I usually see "the jumper" card or cards as the card(s) for the day.
Whether or not such cards are accepted for the purpose of the daily card or any other throw is a personal preference.
The occurrence may be related to the shuffling style &/or the size of the cards.

Hi Emiac!
When this happens to me, I usually perceive it as a message from the cards, a "sign" if you will...that the card is popping out because I need to pay attention to it. Whenever this happens to me, the card or cards that flip out are used in my reading and given the attention they deserve ;)
Hope this helps...of course, you should always do what feels right to you at the time...trust your instincts!

Hey,
I did a reading for myself today. I had 7 flippers. I put them all aside and I think they were all very acurate as to what was going on and to the situation itself. It was almost like a separate spread :D
Blessings,

Hi Emiac,
I always pay special attention to the cards that "jump" out of the deck as I shuffle - doesn't happen that often, but as I learned in Tarot class, when it does, the card probably has special significance. I always make note of the card, proceed with my dailys as usual and then use the "jumper" as an emphasis or teacher card or perhaps a tie-breaker - it has never failed to give me more insight!

I used to pay attention to the flippers that was the way I taught however I found that when I shuffle I always get jumpers. So now I don't even look at them. The only exception to this is with my Faery oracle where I only read the jumpers somes times it is one some times it is half the deck if they have a lot to say

I pay special attention to the flippers too, especially if it is the sam card coming round often.

Hey!
I just got a flipper this morning, for my daily card draw.
It was the Ten of Cups...nice card! Also very appropriate for the day before Valentine's Day :P

Do decks with dolphins have more flippers?

Hi,
Last week, i did a general celtic cross reading for myself. Whilst shuffling the cards 5 fell out.
Normally, i wouldn't put them back in the deck as i'd previously been told they are significant. But this time i just looked at them, put them back in the deck and shuffled well again.
Anyway, when i dealt the cards 4 of the 5 that had fell out appeared in the reading - 2 of them in the central postion.
So, in future, i think i'll be tempted to think of the flippers as significant and as the right cards.

Fishy jokes aside.......
I do love that you cal them Flippers!! Grand title!!
I very much pay attention to flippers... when they soar through the air, I stop shuffling and immediately do my spread from the top of the deck..... I also use the Flipper card for information, usually relating to the Significator.......

Last week, I did an entire three card reading with "flippers". I was shuffling aggressively, I was very upset while reading on the issue, and demanded to see what I needed to know on a situation.
While focusing, one by one, cards flipped over in my hand to show themselves to me. The reading made complete sense.
Personally, I believe flippers/jumpers are some of the most significant cards that can appear (when they do) in the reading process. Their messages almost always seem Divinely inspired to me.

Unless it is a brand new slippery deck.. I always pay close attention to those flippers, and yes I use them in my spread.

Hi Emiac:
I always take note of the flippers during shuffling or a reading. I keep a journal for every reading I do and I note in the margin which cards popped out during shuffling. I find they almost re-inforce the reading in the end, or even act as warning cards!
I shuffle the same way, every time, and with every deck. I find I get more flippers with the deeper and more complex readings.

When that happens to me I usually set that card aside. And continue as if it never happend. Then when Im through with the reading I go back and look at the card. I take note of it. So with in the finished reading i can keep my eye out for what that card has to say. You should never ignore these "Flippers" But if the deck is just difficult to shuffle and its happening every 5 mins I think the fliped out card would be of no value. Usually flippers to be taking notice when you can shuffle the deck flawlessly. This way when it happens you know it means somthin'.

Pat attention to them.
In fact, I suggest you answer the question for yourself:
Make note of them everytime it happens, and include them somehow in your reading. Perhaps make them the card of the day as someone suggested. Let your journal reflect their accuracy over time. This will give you the answer that you'll perhaps feel you can trust the most
Also, as Sharon mentioned, you'll find that they frequently appear in the reading when you put them back, so make note of them and return them to the deck, and then make note of the times they reappear.
Sounds like fun to me!

This whole thread sticks me as odd. I have never had a flipper. Then I realized I have real piano hands. I do not have a problem handling my decks. (maybe my long fingers help out in that area) But they sound like quite a curve in a reading.
