On average, how long would you estimate it takes you to do a normal celtic cross?

Greetings Triiquetra ~
It varies very much on so many factors :). The question, the cards that show, how I am feeling and so on...........
May I ask why this is important to you?

Depends on the level of complication. I would find it hard to read one in less than about 45 minutes and it can take a lot longer. I save it for only certain questions.

Although I use Celtic Cross spreads occasionally, I consider them large spreads, and they usually take me quite a while, unless I'm reading for myself on an ultra simple or mundane matter and I just speed through the cards. I used to read that way a lot, but now prefer simpler spreads to do this.
Reading for someone else I would want to spend a lot more time on something as complex as a CC. Thirty minutes or more, possibly up to a couple of hours to really go through everything carefully.
But some readings just click right along, you know? The thing is you can't predict which ones will.

Moongold: I'm just curious really, just seeing what the average time people spend on the readings is.

when i actually have time to do one before heading out to school in the morning, i'll set aside 15-30 minutes for a quick celtic cross. sometimes i'll do one as soon as i'm out of the shower, and as i pass by the spread while i'm going about my morning routines, i'll kind of meditate on each card and position.
so perhaps it'd be more like 15 minutes to 2 hours? :)

Because I am still relatively new at doing in-depth readings, and the Celtic Cross is pretty extensive, it takes me a minimum of an hour and may take me about two hours, just to lay out and interpret the individual cards. I would add another hour to incorporate the cards together and summarize the reading...
One of the reasons it takes this much time for me is because I take the time to write everything out. I take notes on each card (first my intuitive reactions, then a few keywords from the book) and then spend some time working out, in writing, how each card relates to its particular position in the spread, and finally, how they all work together...the "big picture". Again, if I had more experience working with the cards, it might not take as long...but then again, I really enjoy the whole process...writing everything out is an important piece for me.
The main thing to keep in mind is that you need to block out enough time to read comfortably. It is so important for you to be able to relax and not feel rushed...try to estimate how long you think it might take...and add an hour for good measure!

I used to stay away from the Celtic Cross but then found a new easier version to understand and now I do around 1 or 2 a month. They can take anything from 1/2 hour to 2 hours. It really does depend on what kind of cards I get - sometimes I get the feel of the reading straight away, other times I can look and nothing seems to fit.
I try not to inflict the CC on others but I am starting to enjoy it for myself, with the right wording its a very workable and understandable spread. :)

Usually it takes me about half an hour, because I write everything down.
It takes me the same length of time to do a three card spread, though!
I really like Celtic Crosses; one of my favourite spreads.

Anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. It really depends on how complex the situation is.

I don't do the Celtic Cross but for a 10-card reading on a specific question, I usually take between half hour and one hour.

I personally think that CC is a small spread. I have always thought that way and I probably always will. It takes me about 15 minutes to read cards in such a spread and here I mean talking time.

Working professionally I have to fit a reading into a one/one & a half hour session. But when reading for friends or myself I often leave the cards out for hours, maybe days, while getting on with other things, but with the cards always there, spread out on the table. I find sleeping on a reading & taking another look in the morning can be very helpful. I always keep a note of readings, so I can check back on a spread if I want. I often find that new insights about a reading occur many days, even months after the original spread was laid out.
The best things is to train your mind so you can remember important readings & recall them at will. In that way you can go on examining them long after the reading itself.

Hi,
On the rare occasion that I'm doing this type of spread for myself, 5 minutes tops. I don't use it to read for others anymore but when I did, it depended on the question. Quickest was probably 10 minutes and longest was a hour but a lot of clarifying cards were pulled in that one.
Joy to you,
Maralee
