Just an idea, mostly inspired by Kiama's new Tarot coffee group. Stop me if this has been done before. . .
How about if everyone posts something about Tarot and New Age resources in your city, your town, your state? Basically, any hidden treasures for people new to Tarot looking for real-life resources, or groups, or stores. Even if you visit a place and find something great, maybe share it here and it might help to enrich someone.
I'll start - Dublin, Ireland.
Stores:
Yellow Brick Road, Bachelor's Walk, Dublin 1.
Auld Pine, George's Arcade, Dublin 2.
House of Astrology, Parliment St., Temple Bar, D2.
I have yet to find any specific tarot groups.
More as I find it out.
Et tu?

We have one store (only) that I know of:
Librairie Pythagore, 5, rue de la Boucherie, L-1247 Luxembourg
They sell esoterical books in mostly German and French but order in other language if wished for, decks, incense and other material, crystals, pendulums, crystal balls, etc. They also put up advertisements for people offering Tarot readings, Reiki, massages, conferences etc.
I've never heard of Tarot groups or shops or cafés where you can have readings in public (had the idea once together with a friend of mine to open a café where one could read, have Tarot readings, have a drink, etc, a bit in the "books and beans" style, but we never got to realising it, although I have an official authorisation to open a café...).
Light and love

There are not many resources in our area but the ones that I use are:
Shops
The Speaking Tree : Kings walk, Winchester, Hampshire
Avalon Crystals : Dukes Mill, Romsey, Hampshire
Smiffys : Carlton Place, Southampton
The Speaking Tree is good for books, tarot, oracles etc and you can have various readings done there. Avalon Crystals is in fact spread over two shops within easy walking distance of each other, full of tarot decks, crystals, singing bowls, all things metaphysical.
I'm sure there are more I just havn't found them yet. There was a good one in the village I am living in but it closed down recently (too much hassle from the locals I think :( ).

In Ottawa there are two:
Sunnyside Books on Murray Street
Crystal Dawn on Dalhousie.
The Singing Bowl on Main is interesting but less emphasis on esoteric and more on Feng Shui and that sort of thing.
If there are tarot get-togethers I would love to hear about them.

There's actually quite a bit in Glasgow, the main ones I use are:
Karla Kinsella - an amazing reader who sells virtually every deck you can imagine (that's where I got a copy of the Greenwood in perfect condition for £25), a library's worth of books about tarot, astrology, anything remotely connected to it, second hand books, playing cards, crystals, jewellery.... and she and her colleagues are so friendly and knowledgable.
(that's on Hayburn Street, in the Partick district; get off the Underground at Partick and turn left - Hayburn St is about 2 minutes walk).
Eurasia Crafts - a small shop that mainly sells jewellery and Eurasian crafts (hence the name) but also has several cabinets of tarot and oracle decks, and one of the best selections of incense I've found.
(that's on Queen Street, I think - probably best reached by getting off at St Enoch and turning right along Argyle St; it's a bit of a walk though)
DeCourcey's Arcade - this is one of the gems of the West End, hidden away on Cresswell Lane; it's a warren of little shops, including some amazing ones selling tarot cards, readings, witchcraft supplies (yes, one shop did have a cauldron once), etc.
(it's a bit hard to find, but if you get off at Hillhead and wander around the West End, you'll pick up loads of off-beat stuff, before finding it - I'll give you a hint, it's off Cresswell Street)
Ottakar's - I'm sure you know what it's like :) (it's in the Buchanen Galleries; just get off at Buchanen Street, and walk through the doors.)

I feel really deprived lol - There is nothing around the area where I live - although there is a good little shop in Barmouth called Shalimars, she sells all Lo Scarabeo decks, also branching out into other decks, crystals, runes, I Ching, books, incense - its a general New Age/metaphysical shop. :)

In Portland Maine we have several options for tarot and other metaphysical supplies.
Luminary, 324 Fore Street
The Psychic Eye Metaphysical Store, 32A Market Street and 918 Forest Avenue
Unicorn Cove, 576A Congress Street
Drop Me A Line, 611 Congress Street
The above are small shops in the downtown area there is also a well stocked glass cabinet full of tarot decks at Borders Books located next to the Maine Mall in South Portland.
There may well be others, these are the locations I am aware of.

Hi Cat-doc!
Thanks for the info on Portland, ME....
Here in Waterville, ME, we have a metaphysical store in nearby Winslow:
Back Door to the Moon, located on Lithgow Street. They carry a fairly good selection of tarot and oracle decks (and can order something if they don't have it), also gemstones, jewelry, incense and much more....
Sign of the Sun in Waterville (Silver Street) also offers a nice selection of jewelry, incense, candles and more...
Liquid Sunshine in Farmington is one of my favorite stores...they carry a few tarot decks, tarot books, nice jewelry, beads, incense, statuaries...all kinds of interesting things!
Of course, none of these stores could possibly offer the selection of cards that can be found online, but each store offers unique, handmade items that may enhance your tarot-reading experience...check them out!

Hi Catdoc!
Have you ever been to Enchantments in Boothbay Harbor. I love that store. I am planning on making a trip with Luna there soon. It's the best metaphysical shop I have ever been in. I'm in heaven in there.

Hi Marion, I feel the same way as you---I would love to hear about tarot-get-togethers in Ottawa. Maybe we will just have to start a little tarot club of sorts. What do you think? We could pick a topic each month or every 6 weeks and get together to talk about it or just talk about readings or something like that? I wonder how many more Ottawa people there are here. Anyone?

Snuggles,
I am shocked. I thought you could find anything and everything in New York City! I am sure someone will be able to direct you to a fine shop. If not you can, of course, visit us here in Maine.
Momof3girls and Lunakasha,
It seems I need to do a bit of exploring myself. Waterville, Winslow, Farmington and Boothbay Harbor..... I need to get out more, my assumptions about population density and the type of shops that population will support appear to be based on inaccurate data.
A trip to the shop in Boothbay sounds like fun.

Wellllll, most people don't realize there is a great wonderland above NYC called Upstate NY. Snuggle, unless you make that distinction in your posts, people from around the world (and even around the US) will always make that distinction.
catdoc - believe it or not, NYC is not fertile ground for metaphysical/new age shops. When you stop and think about it, that is not TOO unusual because profit margins are typically slim for these types of shops and rents are high in NYC. I was there in early December last year and my fiancee (even though we were there for her birthday) researched several shops to visit. Unfortunately, most were closed. Found one on West 10th Street in the Village called Morgana's Chamber (friendly atmosphere with several cats walking around as residents). There was another in the East Village, but the name escapes me.
I travel the Northeast on business and have tried to find some shops along the way. So far, I can add these to the list:
Syracuse, NY - by far the best shop I have been in - Seven Rays.
Worcester, MA - Tap Root - actually run by a friend of the family.
Spencer, MA - off the beaten path, but check out Some Enchanted Evening - alot of decks there.
More to follow I am sure, as my mind clears up. If you are anywhere near Syracuse, check out Seven Rays. I get to the city once or twice a month and the staff are all very knowledgable and very, very friendly. They know what they sell and spend time with you - very refreshing these days.
