i own window markers, and they are so awesome!
you can colour right on your window and it drys all opaque like (slightly translucent...miniscule)... anyways, i just drew my favourite tarot card on my window.
so now, when i wake up in the morning the sun will shine on The Wheel of Fortune.. reminding me, what goes around comes around.
karma chameleon... =o)

Where did you get these markers? And Im amazed that you can draw the wheel of fortune! The only card I could probably draw is the 3 of swords!

i got these markers in a crayola plastic container kit (along with more markers, pencil crayons....a colouring book..etc... heheeh im sucha child)
it's a very, very rough sketch of the wheel of fortune.....childlike, and imperfect...hahah COLOURING OUTTA THE LINES! but i enjoy it....
its very weird that you mentioned the 3 of swords, because that was my 1st idea of what to draw out cuz it seems so simple, but right now in my life, its not what i need, so i took the challenge of the wheel......
maybe i will take a pica of it! YAH maybe i shall, i shall wait for the sun thou. thats some hours away... some shut eye away...

What a great idea nocturnaldreamr!!
makes me think of like a Tarot stained glass window - would be wonderful to wake up to the colours. So are you going to do another one - which card this time :-)
oooh you have got me thinking - where did I stash my leadlighting gear - no, no - no more projects! One to file away for the future LOL.
love the wonderful creative inspiration of this place!!

I love this idea! Window markers are new to me -- they sound like a lot of fun. The idea of a tarot stained-glass window effect is really appealing.

I used to make a lot of small s/g panels (lots of supplies in my workshop are waiting). I've been contemplating making a piece depicting a major, but people and small detail are not suited to s/g in the size I do (15'x24' max).
Doing the sun, moon, or star as a representation is a possibility, but not quite what I want, so I'm still waiting for inspiration.

What a great idea? I wonder if you can get them in the UK? How do you get them off? Soap and water? ( I need to know I can get them off before I even contemplate having a go, I am not artistic at all :D )

I love crayons too...but we cant have them because we live in my boyfriends moms house and my son cant seem to stay on paper...he feels the need to color on walls too. While we are living in someone elses house we cant really have him doing that so no crayons until we move out :(

the window looked soo awesome last nite, but right now.. while there is light shining through, it's not so fancy smancy, and the picture of it didnt turn out, too much brite.
around the edges of my window (near my window sill) have condensation on them, so the wheel of fortune looks like it is melting!! haha...
the markers are washable, so some soap and water would get it off. this morning however, i noticed that the side of my palm is orangey/yellow from resting it against my window while drawing it.
ohhhh well.
jewel-ry, im not sure where in the UK to find these kinds of markers... i would suggest checking out where-ever crayola crayons/regular markers are, or check at a art supply store. they would prolly have better quality ones.
creativefire.....hmmm i have no idea what the next card shall be... maybe the moon because i love it's mysterious randomness of it's symbolism...

i was just looking out the window and thinking about the stained glass thoughts, and it reminded me of one of the grade 8 art classes i took... (some years ago..hehe)
you draw out your sketch on a piece of paper and then transfer it onto stiff board (2 sheets of this on a dark colour.. usually black like the seperations in stained glass windows). you then cut out sections of your sketch (so it looks like a stained glass window skeleton), and then on one of the 2 skeleton boards you cut out and glue on different colours of tissue paper (on the inside of it...so if your 2 boards is like bread for a sandwhich, the tissue paper is the lettuce... or cheese, or tomatoes =o)
SO after it's completed, you hang it over a window and the light shines thru and it's an el cheapo way of creating a stained glass fakie window art!

I don't think I can find those markers here :(, but I'm going to the States soon so I'll take a look and get some for myself. I want to have something on my window as well :D.

***TRY DRY ERASER MARKERS!!!***
I had a boyfriend in high school who routinely drew various poses of Wolverine (Xmen comic character, for the uninformed) using dry eraser markers on his bedroom window. I would lay around and watch him work, and it always worked fine for him, even though I can't say I've actually tried the method myself.
I have to say, dreamer, I had such a smile reading you drew the Wheel of Fortune. That blows Marvel comics outta the water, in my book.

Yes I am also impressed that someone can draw the Wheel of Fortune (have been looking at it closing this week for the 78 week study)!!
Think is a great idea to draw the cards on your windows, to get into the symbolism and focus on the card itself for a while! Will have to keep an eye out for some markers here in Australia that would suit.
Not that I know much about the deck, but the Marseilles always makes me think of stained glass when I see it - with its colours and black lines.
I also like the Moon card, dreamer - that would be a lovely one to have on your window. Looking around for a window I can draw on now :-)

we used to have glass paints, and paint these images on glass. We did one once on a piece of clear pvc and put it in the window. It catches the sun beautifully, which brings me to an idea.
I will paint THE SUN and put it in my window and let it light up my room and my life.

DRY ERASE MARKERS!! YAHHH!! ALISSA!!! THEY WILL WORK TOO!!!!
i thought the way the crayola markers drew was familiar but i couldnt remember where i had seen a similiar kind, and i was think about it today and i knew it, but couldnt remember the name and THATS THE NAME! dry erase markers!! I USED one the other day at work, im soo forgetful!
i have the Light and Shadow deck and it's printmaking art (?....im lost for words tonite). it's just black lines forming pictures on a white background (with native american, haitian, african and celtic influences). i was think that deck would be neat for a stained glass project.
i did hear (maybe it was on this site....) of a woman who was teaching the tarot to her son and they would colour one of the cards as they learned the tarot.
im in sucha artistic motivated mood now..........

It would be incredabally frustrating if you messed up though. Erasing dry erase markers is very easy, and you would probably keep messing up parts you did do right.

For those of you who can't draw -
make a color (or b/w, if you want) copy of the card, blown up to whatever size you want. Then tape that copy on the outside of the window, facing in. Then just trace and color. Voila!
This sounds like a lot of fun!

Oh, my gosh, I got these markers for my son and he hasn't used them at all. They're so easy to wipe off the windows, it's no big deal if you mess up or want to change the pic. But now, I think I'll have to ask (demand?) to have them for myself ~ and now that I know how to make a nice pic - thanks, DeLani, for the suggestion - there's no telling where this could lead!!! The sky's the limit.... :)

DeLani - what an excellent suggestion - would make it much easier and quicker to trace the images if your drawing skills aren't that flash.

We did this in school when I was in sixth grade (in 1968!) I'd forgotten all about it. We used black construction paper, and Xacto knives to cut the openings for the tissue paper. What fun!
