True Story
About a month ago I noticed a poster here that lived in Waterville, Maine. We'll that is where I live too, so I send the person a private message saying "Hi, I'm from Waterville too."
I found out the person's name was Karen and we quickly became online buddies. We sent each other private messages everyday about which decks we liked and things in our city.
She said she had joined Aeclectic about the same time I did, but wasn't a regular poster until recently and she seriously started learning the tarot at that same time also. It seemed we frequented the same places too.
Well, we decided to give each other tarot card readings to practice on someone we didn't know and we were going to email each other with the results. We both planned on doing them at the same time and they came out very powerful, full of majors.
After we both did each other's readings and mailed them off, when I received hers it stated from "Karen .........", the name of the girl that was my best friend in high school who I hadn't seen in 17 years. When we did each other's readings we didn't know who each other was and we hit them dead on. I couldn't wait to email her and tell it was me.
Last Sunday we met again for the first time in 17 years at a local coffee shop. It was just like we had left off in our younger days. We had a wonderful time and spent over 3 hours talking about what had happened in our lives since we last saw each other and our common interest in tarot. We couldn't believe that we ever would of got reconnected again through our love of tarot and Aeclectic forum, I mean what are the chances that the person I had been chatting with for the previous month was my best friend in high school?
The funny part is that neither one of us were into tarot in high school and we both got interested in studying it 2 years ago and joined Aeclectic. Do we believe it's destiny, fate??? Yes, we do.
I am so happy to have Karen as a friend back in my life. By the way, Karen is Lunakasha here on the forums. I'm sure Lunakasha will want to elaborate on this story too:)

((((((((LINDA/MOM))))))))))
Beautiful job, Linda!!!! I couldn't have said it better myself, and I can't think of anything to add...this is our incredible, true story!!! Everyone I tell about this just cannot believe it!!! And every one of them says the same thing: "It must have happened for a reason."
Yes, indeed it did.
Linda and I have had this discussion now, several times...I think we were both still a little "shell-shocked" :) to be sitting across from each other in a coffee shop after 17 years apart! And yet, it never felt awkward or strange...it felt just like old times, only better...better because both of us have changed and matured and we have so much more to talk about than just "old times".
It must have happened for a reason....I think for me, the reason is that I have been going through some difficult times over the past year (or two), and being kind of a "loner", I was maybe spending too much time alone. I tend to have fewer friends than most, but those I do have are very special to me. Before I "met" Linda, I was pulling away from people more than usual...yet before I knew what was happening, I was exchanging several PM's daily with someone I barely knew! Or so I thought...
I guess the best part of this whole experience has been that I finally figured out what was missing from my life...my best friend! I think we are on our way toward becoming an important part of each other's lives again, just like we used to be..and I am a happier person now because of this.
Thanks to Aeclectic, for bringing us back together!
And thank you Linda, for sending that first PM...
:) Luna/Karen

Momof3 & Lunakasha: Thanks for sharing your wondrous mutual experience!
The synchronistic element is awesome in the process of two souls meeting again. Awesome also is that Tarot is the link bringing full circle to a relationship begun long ago.
Looking forward to seeing more of y'all.

:D I truly *truly* believe there is something a little "squirrely" about the internet ... something that allows like energy to attract like - and by sharing a common interest, we can find those whom we love and have lost over time.
What a wonderful reunion... see, people say Love is the underlying power of the Universe, but we don't always have examples to show it.
Myself, I believe in the power of Love to bring me all that I am meant to have in this life. I've had the Universe return loved ones to me whom I didn't even know I was missing... and once found, I couldn't imagine my life without them.
Great story, luna and Mom ... the world is full of magic, and that means the internet too.....

Aw shucks.... :D
Thanks for all of the positive comments...we are both so pleased that you enjoyed hearing our story! We really wanted to share our joy and disbelief with our friends here at Aeclectic, without whom this would never have happened.
As an added bonus, this story is a pretty good example of that age-old debate of whether life events happen by accident, "coincidence", or do they happen for a reason, predestined by a series of circumstances beyond our control or understanding?
This discussion has come up here before, in terms of the forces at play when we read tarot: is what we see in the cards predestined and unchangeable, or do we control our own destiny and use tarot as a tool in helping us shape our future?
I don't know what the answer is...I have always believed that everything happens for a reason, but most of the time we have no idea what that reason is. Rather than stand back and let life happen, it is our responsibility to take what we know, what we learn in life, and use that information to make our lives better. I believe that Linda and I were brought together for a reason, and now it is up to us to determine where we will go from here...
Thank you for all of your kind words and support...Linda and I consider ourselves blessed to be part of the AT community.

HAHA!!! Well now, I will have to talk to Linda about that....she might be as camera-shy as I am  However, she has some pictures of us in high school that are HILARIOUS!!!! We grew up during the '80's, after all, when all the girls dressed up like Madonna!!!! :P

OMIGOD! In 1984 I honestly thought I WAS Madonna!!! LMAO.
..My parents still swear it was the worst year ever.. I got all my rebellion out at age 9....

I'll post my Madonna Wannabe pictures if you post your Madonna Wannabe pictures. (I had more black bangles, omg I was so into that. I never took my jewlery off, slept and bathed in black freakin bangles and silver bracelets).
:D I used to give my black bangles away to friends, and then buy a couple packs of 20 more at the mall next time. I forgot that.
So if anyone busts out their tapered leg pants, pointy toed flats, socks with bows, or anything else circa 1985, I'm gonna laugh.

LMAO, dp!!!! I can just picture it...a little 9-year-old dressed in lace gloves, booties and WAY too much jewelry, wreaking havoc on anyone that crosses her path!!!! :D
Well, I was 16 in 1984....I think I was 17 when I (we) really started dressing like her....as I said to Linda, looking at those pictures: What the HELL were we thinking???

TOO funny Alissa!!!
Yep, I had the bangles too...you could hear me coming from quite a distance ("Is that Karen? Can't see her face but...wait, I hear something...yeah, it's her!"). I had the socks with bows too, and remember gelly shoes??? I wore them with fluorescent socks--neon-orange, lime-green, hot-pink! I wore the lace gloves, and huge bows in my hair....LOL!!!! We thought we looked soooo good! Pretty tame, compared to what they're wearing now, Britney-era :P Thanx for a stroll down memory lane!
