Hi folkes,
I love how these things tie together .. and I know it will become more exciting as we understand these connections. The more we understand, the more there is to understand ...
I love the tie-in of other metaphysical concepts into the tarot ...
My birthdate is 10 December 1951 .. so it looks like my soul card ...
10 + 12 + 1951 = 1973 is 1+9+7+3 = 20 is Judgement
... and the other method for my soul card shows the same ...
1+0 + 1+2 + 1+9+5+1 = 20 is judgement
.. but doesn't 20 reduce down to 2, which is the High Priestess in both cases?
Then my current card for this year is ....
10 + 12 + 2003 = 2025 is 2+0+2+5 = 10 is The Hermit
... and the other method for my year card shows the same ...
1+0 + 1+2 + 2+0+0+3 = 10 is The Hermit
.. but 10 can further reduce down to 1, the Magician in both cases?
Could someone(s) comment more on this? ... even though I am thinking that the numbers aren't magick in themselves, but that it is a matter of intuition as to how far I should carry the reduction of the numbers ....

Samweiz: A belated welcome to Talking Tarot!
No need to reduce the numbers further, except that whence the Personality number is two-digit, reducing it results in the Soul number. Any number higher than 22 needs to be reduced to accomodate the 22 card associations.
Hence for ye, 20-Judgement is Personality; 2-The High Priestess the Soul.
In addition, 11-Justice (or 11-Strength, depending on what deck/correspondences ye use or prefer) is the Shadow Card. Mary K. Greer refers to this as the Hidden Factor (because 'tis "hidden" within another personal card) or Teacher.
Edited to add: Btw: your current Year 2003 is not 10, but 9-The Hermit.
Likely ye are more introspective; interested in study & applying the self to same. May have felt the need to be so even prior to the actual birth date.

For 20-Judgement as Personality : If I were reading this, I'd say you've come to this life, this incarnation, with the expectation that you will "stand up and be who you are". You may have set up life challenges for yourself that would test this basic tenet, such as the reoccurring need to break away from others' dominant thought patterns, and/or to separate yourself from the need for group acceptance.
2-The High Priestess as Soul : The pursuit behind this life's tasks comes from the need to push yourself beyond what has felt comfortable in your spirituality in lives' past, and to use this life to open yourself more fully to the Mysteries within. In doing so, you may find yourself having lived much of this life as a loner ... the High Priestess can be a very solitary figure, but like the Hermit, she looks within not to simply withdraw from life, but to seek higher knowledge.
Since your current year is a Hermit year, you may feel that you're at the end of a cycle - 9's do that. You may strongly feel the need to do that withdrawal thing, as said above, in correlation with your High Priestess' energy.
And a belated hello from another here in the land of enchantment, Samweiz! :D Welcome to the forums....

Gloria: I see it as since the last birthday was in December 2003, the current year energy in effect is 2003. 2004 is not in effect until next December.

Samweiz: The rational aspects of the self (20-Judgement) may vie with the irrational (2-The High Priestess). That is, the latter visionary self may be at odds with the former. Wake up calls (11-Justice) may be the impetus for change.
As with any lifetime, part of the life's development oft deals with merging the two opposing influences; finding the middle ground or balance. Lack of such will affect & manifest in various ways on different levels.
Based on the configurations & a quick view of the birthdate: an innate sense of the aesthetics as well as attracted to the intellectual. Artistically inclined with the abilities to support the interests. Quick to respond. Likely in a Hermit Year, the thoughtful & intuitive self cometh to the fore & the discovery of more than apparent within the self.

Hi,
... I added incorrectly somehow and still correctly came up with the Hermit for my year card. My son was looking over my shoulder while I was reading the replies and started poking fun and gave me the good advice to review before I send.
Thank you all for the fine welcome!
A little about myself to help tie-in the readings. As a vocation I have been involved with computers and software engineering for over 25 years (even though my degree is in Theology). I have had an interest in metaphysics for quite a long time but was afraid to go into it because of the strict religious ideas and teachings I was immersed into since I was a child (you know, that occult/metaphysical stuff is Satanic). It wasn't until about 10 years ago that I began to break free of that brainwashing. I have been much happier and whole new horizons have opened up to me for investigation and incorporation into myself, especially in spiritual & metaphysical matters ... as well as artistic (I incorporate my spiritual and metaphysical self into the art and crafts that I do). I am currently studying Native American spirituality (such as Frank Fools Crow) as well as weaving a couple of prayer rugs on a Navajo style loom I built ... and painting and decorating gourd rattles in Lakota medicene colors.
This year I have become more immersed in these inner excursions ... and there is a vast universe there to explore ... but I want to express to others what I find -- and art & crafts is one good way to do it.
Thank you for your readings ... I wanted to share the associated thoughts.

Samweiz: Thanks very much for the wonderfully detailed feedback!
It looks like the expressions of your interests are coalescing well; falling into place.
It seems that as one "pays one's dues" & matures, is better situated to get a more wholistic view, one also grows more into the core self & acquires the means to express it.
There is a lot of truth to the "Life begins at 40/50" :)

STARGAZING: Add the birthdate thusly:
**01*****
**01*****
1969*****
--------
1971 = 18/9
In the example, the Personality Card is 18-The Moon; the Soul Card is 9-The Hermit.
If the 4-digit sum of the date results in a number higher than 22, reduce further.
