I've had several dreams about tarot cards that I've never seen before.
Most were in beautiful full color, and very evocative.
Frequently I know I am being shown the cards by another being.
I've also been shown a book, who's pages were turning in front of me. This was a dream, and I read the book in the dream. When I woke, I knew what I had read told me to go back to school.
Recently, during meditation, I saw three cards layed out in a particular spread. I was told the meanings of the positions, and could see the cards clearly. (I'll discuss the spread in the spread forum.) They were black and white, line drawings I believe, of angelic or sculptural origin. I believe I recall being able to read them easily.
The most interesting part was that the vision wasn't like a move; I could move on to card three, and then go back to card 2 at will to check it out some more, for example.
I post this now because on another thread several people mentioned dreaming about cards. I'd love to hear others experiences.
I believe my guides use cards to speak to me, and that really I don't even need them anymore for this, although I love to shop and cards provide and outlet for this. heheheh
Point being, that it isn't a far leap for me to believe that they would simply create a few cards in order to say something specific to me.
In addition, I feel they (and our higher selves, subconscious, etc.) use dreams in the same way, so it's fascinating to see them combined in this way, dreams and cards together.

sometimes when I'm meditating on a card I'll kind of slip into a kind of trancelike state where the card takes me someplace else and teaches me something about it. Sadly, much of the time I can't remember the details. But I don't think I've actually had a vision like yours, that clear and vivid, at least, not yet!

I too believe that spirit-guides can communicate through tarot. However, in my case, it is through the physical use of tarot, and not through manifestation of tarot in dreams.
Although, I have had some dreams of various tarot-cards and decks, but not with any significance (as far as I am aware!).
I think that spirit sometimes communicates with us through symbol, and it would seem that in your case, your guide is choosing tarot-symbology in order to make itself known.

Not long after I first joined this site, I had a dream in which I saw an additional major arcana card, called "Love."
Holding the card in my hand, I felt like I had found a treasure, a key, the secret to something that I had lost and not even known was missing.

I too have had many dreams where I have seen or read tarot cards. Everyone of the decks being one that (so far) I have not seen in reality.
A couple were very beautiful and soft, with colors and symbols that one could lose themselves in.
Another dream deck looked like ancient line drawings, and had very strange majors like the "the Esparille" which was a spider woman, and "the Saturnalia" which featured a small girl playing with a pocket watch.
A couple of reoccuring dreams show me decks that on closer inspection...move and change form.
Each time I dream about tarot I know that it is an attempt by my guides or my higher self to really try and get me to understand what is happening within...in a way that I can easily relate to.

I just had a dream over the weekend where Aset (Isis) told me about a particular spread that should be done at the beginning of each month (Egyptian calendar month, that is, which just started over the weekend).
Unfortunately I couldn't hold on to any details, even when I tried to wake myself up just enough to grab a notebook and pen!

Since starting exploring Tarot, almost every night I dream about a card or two I've never seen before. Some of them are profound - once I had a dream where I was shown a set of four cards, each one with the eye of horus on it (the egyptian hieroglyph with the eye). MOre often though they are just rather eccentric things I can't understand - another time I dreamt of a card called "riddler of st. germain" or something, with a picture of a rather obese joker like fellow dressed in red on a blue background, with a very long description underneath that I promptly forgot when I woke up. If I remember the cards, when I wake up I'll write them down. Maybe one day I'll have 78 of them, ha ha (not likely tho, and the deck wouldn't make any sense).
Maybe they're some type of communicative form of deeper insight, and they're fun to remember, but for me i just treat them as just the usual randomness of my dreams ;)

That is so incredible! What brought me to this site was a dream and an image that appeared while mediatating. I heard the words mythic or mystic and aeclectic and was shown images of what I knew to be Tarot cards -- but none that I have ever seen, my experience beyond my two decks -- well there was no other experience. So I did what most people do today -- I googled those words and ended up HERE. I definately believe my guide speaks to me through tarot -- sometimes I feel like it is a special "sign language" that we both understand. As you can see I am new here but I feel llike this place and everyone here are going to teach me something I need to know -- I didn't post this because I felt silly or maybe I would be percieved as being ODD...

No, that is not odd at all. This sort of thing happens to me often enough. Life does seem to be like this as well -- things happen. The important thing (IMHO) is to be open to such events yet, at the same time, harbor a little suspicion about everything that one believes is true. The last dream I had like that was about a dark complected woman who seem to be friendly to me, who spoke of gnosis. Her name was "tenebre" which when I did a web search on this turned up:
Tenebrae or tenebre\Ten"e*br [ae] \, n. [l., pl., darkness.] (R. C. Ch.) The matins and lauds for the last three days of Holy Week, commemorating the sufferings and death of Christ, -- usually sung on the afternoon or evening of Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, instead of on the following days.
Which is interesting since I'm not Catholic and don't know Italian other than a few common words and do not recall such a word whatsoever. This was after a discussion that I shared in about Le Papess and her qualities.

I had a conversation with other afternoon with a person who was a very close friend, who lately is moving away from me I believe in part because of my becoming more comfortable with intuition, synchronicity, and tarot that, "I will always keep a dose of synicism to ensure I am truly balanced."

Love the replies so far folks. And it seems strange and yet expected that so many have similar experiences. Much love to you, siblings.
MyTQuinn, I think if I were you I would take this thread as the confirmation you were talking about. LOL What a wonderful experience!
Thank you EVERYBODY for sharing, and thanks for those that I hope will add to the thread even more.

I've never had a dream about cards (well, not yet!) but once, I was browsing through this site for new decks and saw a card that looked very familiar, but I didn't know why.
That night, I had a dream about someone, woke up, and realized that the picture in the card was of something related to that person.
if that makes sense.

I was surprised to see so many responses. And then, no so surprised. How neat! This really gives me food for thought.
