...they seem to be using the word 'Tarot' to refer to something which has no resemblance to Tarot ?!?!?

This is how he defines "tarots"
These are unlike any Tarots you have ever come across. In Metopia, there are unique images and hierarchies associated with the Tarots. You will learn much of it during gameplay.
There are seven classes of Tarots:
Common, Land, Battle, Protect, Magic, Relic, Ally
My eyes started to cross in the reading . . . oh, well, another interesting-looking site that turns out misleading.

I can't tell if it's an online game, played on a MUD or something, or a game like Magic: The Gathering. He says it's played "on the forums" which sounds online. The cards look like actual cards -- they even have a copyright at the bottom. Since I don't know much about Magic: The Gathering type games or about MUDs and those kinds of games, I'm at a loss.
Anyway, their "tarots" are more like game tokens or something, not what we think of at all.
