but I need to know if any of you ever asked the question about death. My father-in-low is in the hospital alot in the last year. and he's weary of life and the pain and not been abel to see my kids. I want to know if I can ask the cards about him, about knowing for how long does he have to live.

I think it would be hard getting any sort of time line. If it was me, I'd ask questions like 'what can I do to make his time left more pleasant' or something else along those lines. That focuses on more of a how to, than a when and can be more benefitial. Even if you can't see him, you can still send him pictures & letters to brighten up his days there.
