Has anyone ever given away/sold a deck to someone else because you just can't seem to 'get' it, and a few months later you look at the images and think "dang it, it makes sense now!"?
My first deck was the Enchanted Tarot
and it just wasn't working for me for the first 2 months. I had a friend take a look at it and it clicked with him automatically. I gave it to him and kept the book that came with it (he didn't want it). I've been looking through the book and thinking "Oh man, why did I get rid of this deck? It's gorgeous!

Been there...
Barrett's Ancient Egyptian, the Legend: Arthurian, the Mage deck, and the Druid Animal Oracle.
Got the Mage back, trying to con my mom out of the Arthurian since that's who I gave it to, and have to find a new copy of the Egyptian.
I sooo hate it when that happens :)

I never regreted giving a deck away cause I know it will bring joy to someone else, I do sometimes end up buying a new copy of a deck I once traded though.
I did that with the Cosmic tarot and I have been thinking about maybe buying the chinese tarot again...

Mad at self over it , regret it now , but HAD TO HAVE the
$$$ then !!! Sold my Albano-Waite / RWS/ Universal- Waite/
large Thoth / Gendron/ Spiral/ Stairs of Gold/ SC/ & Osho Zen.
I've since retained the Thoth & Universal Waite. I've been
blessed by being able to add the Tarot of Timeless Truth & am
awaiting the arrival of the Gothic and the Golden Tarot. The
ones I miss most I named above & will replace first are the Spiral
& the Gendron.

So happy to see this thread. I just got a new deck I pined over and adored initially. Still like it, but I"m doing daily draws and finding they don't make much sense.
I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to work with it, but it's nice to have some reassurance that I should hang onto it!
(It's the Templar by the way).
I wonder if I should just skip the daily drawing and use it the way I'd thought to. But I thought dailies would be a way to get to know it.

I do not recall all the decks I have traded (or those purchased to give as gifts that I do not have) but tend to not look back. Figure there was a reason.
SongDeva: Daily drawings of perhaps one card a good way to get acquainted with any deck, but do go with your own idea or inclination as that is your intuition guiding the approach. I like the Templar for its unusual images & intensity.
Edited to add: I have learned, however, that just because a deck does not seem "to click" at any one time is not necessarily an indication that it will not at some later time. Since Tarot is a journey of the spirit & can mirror the changing aspects of life, one's perceptions & insights also change over time. Different decks may have different voices to express or to suit the moment.
