Dear Tarot-Kindred,
In celebration of my 1,111th post, I thought I'd propose a particular question regarding gratitude.
I thought of this when I was watching the Academy Awards a few weeks ago.
I imagined myself receiving a big, golden statue of the tarot Fool--Best in Cartomancy?
There I am, up at the podium with my award, and I thought of all whom I would thank for 'being there' on the Royal Road with me.
My speech:
"....of course, Mom has to be thanked first, because she bought me my first deck.
And the rest of my family--Dad and Sis, for supporting me and buying me decks and so on.
My co-workers also deserve many thanks for putting up with my obsession around our regular duties at the office; they've each had their fair share of finding the Aeclectic Tarot homepage up on their computers!
I cannot forget all the people who allowed me to read for them over the years--for knowing that I was just learning and trusting me anyway.
A special 'thank you' goes to that lady at the coffee shop who insisted on paying for her reading; she was my first paid reading, and the best lesson in my life came with her kindness...."
(The 'you're-going-over-your-time' music begins to fade in.)
"And I thank all of my current clients who trust me and the guidance of the cards so completely....umm...umm...."
(The music gets louder; Tauni is talking fast now....)
"A BIG 'thank you' to everyone at Aeclectic; it has been an amazing Tarot Journey, and I couldn't have done it without all of you.
Thank you all so much!"
(I blow kisses to the camera....As the music fills the auditorium, I swoop off the stage in my flowing, High Priestess-like gown with my golden Fool statue for Best In Cartomancy....)
;)
Seriously, I found it interesting to see how many people have actually supported me, whether they even realize it or not.
Indeed, I don't even think most people in my life realize how much that means to me....I will have to let them know.
So, please, share with me....
Who do you thank for your place on the Royal Road?
Oh, and by the way--Thank You!
:)

We have to thank ourselves for believing in oneself. If we don't believe in ourselves & what we believe in we get nowhere.
We also have to thank all the others, the ones who loved us & let us be who we are, no matter what path we follow, & how long it took us to get where we are.
Then all the rest of them the list goes on & on & on ...

Congratulations Tauni!
I would mostly thank my sister for being open-minded and supportive, and the folks here at Aeclectic.
I would have to have it written out exactly as I wanted to say it or I would quite forget in all the nervous excitement of being on stage under all those lights :)

Yes, happy 1111! :D
Nice thread idea! I won't be winning any awards for reading any time soon, but for pointing me in the right direction I will thank:
1. Ex-bf Dan, who was a dink, but did give me my first deck.
2. Mom, for making me give it back, thus ensuring my interest.
3. Bree, for teaching me more about tarot, and making me see that it wasn't Secret Occult Knowledge that only Super Intuitive Seers could use.
4. Joe, for basically stealing my Thoth deck which caused me to get others and therefore learn more.
5. Cynthia Giles for her book Tarot: History, Mystery, and Lore.
6. Aeclectic Tarot, for introducing me to the Fey, the Cosmic Tribe, and heaps and heaps of information. Thanks especially to everyone here!
:D :D :D

3. My dog and my cat, and their unconditional love.
4. A home.
5. A job.
6. A happy childhood (many, many ... many years ago).
7. Friends (especially all my friends at Aeclectic). :*

I just passed 1,111 posts right when I saw this thread :D Hmm...
I thank...
- The artists and publishers for creating so many beautiful decks.
- Who/whatever first got me interested in tarot (if I could remember I'd be groveling).
- The Bolt boards, for supplying me with my initial tarot message boards.
- Aeclectic Tarot, for their endless selection of decks and wonderful site. If it weren't for them I never would have found my perfect deck.
- My mom, for letting me borrow her credit card to buy my first deck :D
- Learntarot.com for supplying me with my first tarot resources, and Thirteen for her basics.
- Everyone here on Aeclectic, for supporting me and letting me practice reading for them.
- The Seekers, for boosting my confidence immensely!
- Myself, for being so patient in the learning process and trusting my intuition, despite my analytical Virgo personality.
- The Kosmos, for leading me down the right path.
- Last but not least, my boyfriend, for being supportive of me, and even though he can be a skeptic, I know he'll come around :)

I would like to thank a tarot reader named Joanne who gave me my first reading and turned me from a skeptic into a believer.....
I would like to thank my best friend Roxanne for sharing this interest with me......
I would like to thank my favorite store "The Metaphysical Emporium" for being a sancuary to me and providing tons of products and services that helped me develop the gift of tarot reading.....
I would like to thank everyone here at AT for teaching me new spreads, methods, and meanings and also breaking my fear of reading for others.....
And last but not least, I would like to thank myself for not giving up :)

If it had'nt been for Waite, Smith, and Eden Grey 20 yrs.
ago, I'd know absolutely nothing of Tarot, my one and
only interest that has kept me totally captivated this
long. And of course my friend, Tom who stumbled upon
a rather worn Rider- Waite deck along with a tattered
work by Grey; oh, how I LOVED them! And the rest is
history...
