Question of tarot energy

I am going to give this question a try. If the energy is within ourselves to read tarot how could someone we read for with bad energy effect our cards? I'm beginning to understand that it's all in our own minds what we create & want to believe. Am I getting it or what. lol Thanks for any replys.

I think the other persons' energy affects us when we read for them. Just as another person's energy can affect you in any situation where you are involved. During a reading the other person is the focus and hence their energy.

i usually don't read for people that have serious negative energy about them, sadly these are the people that need the most help. my mother says i should learn to protect myself from that kind of energy, but i haven't figured out to do it yet. the negativity affects me greatly.

There are certain people I can't read for. My mom is one of them. She doesn't let me read them, she wants to know exactly what they say RIGHT NOW. Another group are the non-believers...the sceptics...I can't read properly when I get that constant feeling from them that it WON'T work. I've given two readings so far in the Reading Exchange Forum, and I've yet to find out how the second one came out.

Well this is interesting...because I just finished saying in another thread how I believe the power is in the reader, not the cards. But this situation is a little different...because it involves another person. I would not read for someone who gave me bad vibes...or made me uncomfortable at all. If they did, I'd also never let them anywhere near my cards, because although the cards are just cardboard and ink, I believe they have a certain amount of energy, as do all people, crystals, and any divination tool really. Simply because they are used in such a way that our energy is transferred to them. So I think it is a possibility. I'm not too sure though, but just to be safe I'd never let my cards fall into the wrong hands :)

it is my belife that when you do a reading for some one your gardian angel and there gardian angel are comunicating with eatch other .... ( or angels as the case might be ... I have 3 ) there gardian angel comunicates to yours the real reason for them wanting a reading and your gardian angel guides you as to the way the cards get drawn and what spread you use

thanatos, you just summed up my own approach. I believe we all have Inner Teachers, however it is we communicate with them (as angels, whatever). And, when I read, I ask my Inner Teachers to help me communicate with my querent's Teachers, so that he or she will get "the message they most need to hear". Umbrae has often told people to question "why do you read?" I read for the purpose of this prayer to be answered, and for me to help be a part of that process, if possible. I once read (twice) for someone who I would characterize as having negative energy. Although I still wanted my prayer to come true for him, being in that mental/psychic space was not fun, so I didn't want to read for him after a second time. His Inner Teachers were *pissed off* at him and his behavior in this life. Disgusted would be a good word, it was the most extreme case I remember... the feeling of "Screw-It-Do-It-Yourself" with their hands in the air. It's the only time I've ever, as a reader, placed myself in a dialogue with another's Inner TEachers, and found that I didn't necessarily want to be the medium. The querent was angry at Them back, when I said They were displeased with his life choices. However, long term drug addiction, restraining orders, and a child's custody, were all in play. I did the best I could. Then I walked away. It is, after all, their life... and their set of choices. None of us has the power to change that, but each of us has the power to change ourselves. :)

To add to Alissa’s comments… And further…do you remain as yourself during the reading? Or do you plug in – buy into their negative energy/intentions? See…If you don’t know why you read…you will be searching for answers…and if you’re searching and sitting with a bundle of negative energy intentions…guess what…you can lose your reason for reading, and buy into the lie… And hey, while we are here…why do you read? Because if the answer is a trite quip with nothing behind it (a lie), your readings (and ‘studies’), will never be truly useful – you’ll just have a lovely hobby with Tarot cards that will be ‘cute’, and waver when the wind blows…so what do you want?

Again...wisdom...There were people years ago, that I wouldn't do a color reading for...I sensed they were "testing" me to show that anything I said could fit anybody...but that was MY belief...If I feel that now, I may not want to read and may choose not to, but sometimes, we may need to take that plunge, cleanse ourselves of another's energy, draw the cards and read what we see...that takes courage and some confidence ...I'm just beginning to read Tarot..for myself, family and friends...but feel that one day, I will branch out...no rush...when the time is right or the person presents themselves I hope I will know...terri

There has only been one person that I have read for that I truly felt nervous and uncomfortable with because of the negative energy. I always do a protection ritual visually before reading and allow my guardians to watch over me and I also do a cleasning of the cards after a reading other then for myself. This individual was a temp employee at our office and I was doing readings as a fund raiser for a charity we support in our office and she asked for a reading. She had previously made me edgy and I didn't really like her to come into my workspace because of this but the reading was for a good cause. She didn't say a word through the reading and only afterwards asked me about my beliefs. She at this point indicated that she worked with candle magick which I have always been interested in, but her belief was that everyone got what they deserved. She also made me feel very drained of energy around her so everytime she was near I would visually enclose myself in protective light and enery. There are some people who are like psychic vampires and that tend to drain energy from you when they are around. I feel it is always a good idea to protect yourself from this when reading. Dexter
