Some places I'd like to see, if I'm in the vicinity:
(1) Bibliothèque nationale in Paris: To visit the 1930 Marteau Tarot de Marseille, the 1760 Conver, and the Viéville, and whatever else they have there.
(2) Warburg Institute, University of London, England: To see the original Harris Thoth paintings that made their way into the Thoth deck. ... If they let me in. Anyone ever get in?
(3) The museum in Italy that houses the other extant 1760 Conver. What's the name of the museum?
(4) Miike museum, to see those other 1760 Conver cards that Kenji has mentioned in a recent thread.
(5) The museum(s) in Italy that house(s) the Visconti deck(s). Which museum(s) is/are they?
(6) Stuart Kaplan's tarot and playing card museum in the U.S.
(7) The Alida store in San Marino.
(8) The City of Marseilles, to check out things tarot, including the city museum and, if they let me in, the Camoin factory.
(9) JC Flornoy's shop in France where he makes the TdM reproductions.

Not too sure...I just think all the Voudoun (sp?) practicioners there might have a very different take than I would...and I'm so interested to see and learn...

Yes, just go to Jackson Square ona weekend and there are alls orts of tarot readers, palm readers, etc....howver, last time I was there (last May) the city council was trying to kick them all out. Wanted to "clean up the image of New Orleans".
Most of the occult shops in the French Quarter still offer readings, though.

I wish there could be a Tarot symposium/conference closer - even a "Mid-America Tarot Conference" in the Mid-west - like St. Louis or something. England and Australia are a bit out of the way for me!

On my recent trip to London I had the pleasure of shopping in the Atlantis Bookshop on Museum street and some conversation with the proprietor. I purchased the Via Tarot there (wanting to pick up a Brit created deck on this trip) and asked about the Warburg Institute. Apparently, it takes quite a bit of planning in advance to be allowed in - have to write for an application, give all sorts of detailed information (I recall someting about the number of fillings on one's teeth coming up)and wait for permission. Pity these treasures are not more readily viewable, but after the kind of behavior & language I saw and heard at Stonehenge (especially when I plunked myself down to do my reading once I found just the right spot - not in any 'forbidden' area, however) I am not at all surprised that great care is being taken to protect them.

Bruno's Gallery in Marysville which includes a small number of sculptures and paintings from the Tarot.
Marysville is about one hour East of Melbourne... and a beautiful place indeed :)

Did you guys know that Mr Kaplan's collection is not open to the public? :( and I work a mere 15 minutes from Stamford, CT.
So close, yet....I should see if they have any employment opportunities :D

There's the SWAT Get-Together planned for May/June, 2005, too! (That's "South-West Aeclectic Tarot" in plain English! ;) ) It'll be held at a lovely campground in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Maybe we'll see you there, DeLani? :D
Peace,
Melvis
