I opened a thread here recently asking which deck (of the many we all own) you currently use to read for clients / others....
Well, to turn that around... Do you have a deck (decks) that you don't read for anyone with.. and save only for yourself...????
Right now, I think of the Shapeshifter as "my" deck :D ...

I suppose I keep the decks that are harder to myself, because they require more work. However, if someone wanted a reading from one, then no problem. So, no, I don't keep any decks for me (except maybe the Garden of Prenis or whatever it is called, simply because it is a rather too interesting deck!)

I keep my Amber for myself. I rarely read for anyone with my Vertigo, and I'll only use my Faeries Oracle when they feel in the mood.
And I've just realised these are the three that I posted in Tarot Decks in the thread about the 'Tarot G-Spot'.

Hi Dolphinprincess,
Enjoyed your last question!
Guilded and Faeries Oracle are mine all mine
No lookie no touchie.....
Only for meeeeeeeeeee!
The selfish shellfish.
I make no excuses for my selfishness.
I have 25 oracles and 60 tarot decks.
There are plenty to pick from if a person wants to pick but.....
Not those two.
I would do online readings with them, like here....
But I don't take them to the Spirit Fair.
But when Guilded comes out published as a regular deck I might be tempted to take them with me.
Because with that deck it's so beautiful you want to spread the love around.
I should start doing readings with the Faeries, I really should, they have so much to say.
But they've been mine in such a private way for so long I'd have a hard time sharing them.

Lark, you brought up the Faeries Oracle... I will read this one for others, but I'm with you - I don't let anyone else 'touch' it... !
The Shapeshifter, that I mentioned above.. is not an easy deck to read with, but it feels personal to me.. I keep it for myself bc I don't think I would read it near as well for others.. at least not now.
(** I don't blame you.. I wouldn't let ANYONE near that beautiful Gilded!)

Yeah Dolphinprincess, Lark's right you think of great questions!
For me - Tarot of the Origins - it's deep and powerful, I love the art work, and feel strangely moved when I look through it or try to read with it. I save it for seldom, for when I really need guidance. Can't imagine using it for or with anyone else.

I don't have a lot of decks right now, but the only one that I haven't used for anyone else (not even much for myself) is the Faeries Oracle. I'm still learning with it and haven't had much chance to work with it, but it seems to be a very personal deck and I don't think it's a deck that I'll normally use to read for others.

For Me Only: the Zerner-Farber Tarot and the Tao Oracle.
I just got the New Century Tarot, and that one may also be designated a "personal reading deck," but I'm not sure yet.

well since halloween is my all time favorite holiday, i have to say that my halloween deck is for me and only me. i don't read with them to be honest, i just sit there and look at each card. i don't want anyone to handle my halloween deck and i don't want to do a reading with it for anyone. this is my one deck that is mine, mine, mine! and it is special because it was given to me as a christmas gift by a close friend who knows of my love for tarot and she bought it also knowing of my love for halloween!

I don't think I would ever let anyone near my Gothic Vampires. This is the deck that I have the deepest relationship with and the pictures seem to speak to my soul. Sounds ridiculous but that's just the way it feels like. I don't use it often, just for special situations.

I don't know about this question, I really don't. There are some that I said I wouldn't read for others with, and yet, it always ends up that I do.

I can completely relate, Tri...
I have actually had several 'for-me-only' decks, but I have eventually given in to reading for someone else with each them. My friends/ family would beg and cajole a reading out of me, and it's my own fault, because I'd want to show off my beautiful deck...
I made the Zerner-Farber my personal deck because I really like the looks of it, it feels comfortable in my hands, and I think if it was a person, it's sun-sign would be Cancer (my sign).
I think the Z/F is very attractive and show-worthy, but since I chose it exclusively based on my own taste and personality, I have no inclination to share it with anybody.
This time, I refuse to let myself leave the house with it, and I keep it seperate from my other decks--on my bedside table, ready for cosy night-time readings.
If you want a personal deck, and you want to keep it personal, determine to keep it where only you will use it, during private moments.
Also, make sure it's a deck you won't be tempted to show off!
:)

The decks I keep for myself are the Morgan Greer and the Thoth. I have used the Morgan Greer for others when I first purchased it but I keep it just for myself now and the Thoth I don't think I've given anyone else readings with it, can't remember if I have or not lol

Good Question - gave me a lot to think about.
I can't imagine anyone else touching my Thoth - but I am also wildly curious to see what other energies would do to the readings. It is such a power deck that the result would be truly fabulous.
My Gilded was a special birthday present to myself - I may show it off from time to time, but I agree with the post above - IT'S MINE ALL MINE!!!!!!
Shining Tribe is also a deck of special significance for me - I use it for personal spreads and for meditation, but can't imagine sharing it. Guess I'm rather selfish too.
Right now, my problem is deciding what deck to take on my trip this spring - we plan to visit Stonehenge while there and although I know we can't get very close, I want to at least pull a daily card while there. I have felt such a pull to that part of the world for so long that I'm thinking any spreads I do during my visit will be really special.

Ooh, how cool!
Do you have the Sacred Circle deck?
Also, the Old Path has images of Stonehenge in it...
I don't suppose it matters if the site is an image in the cards, but it seems appropriate if it works that way for you.
Maybe you should buy a special deck, just for the trip--a great excuse for another deck purchase!

I have two decks that I don't want anyone else to touch. One is the Tarot of the Crone, and the other is Granny Jones Australian Tarot.
These two are for me and only me.
It's probably no coincidence that these are two of my most expensive decks. :)

The Celtic Wisdom is mine only. No-one else touches it and funny when I think about it when I want o read with it I take it into my bedroom and shut the door.
Weird never thought about that before because withmy other decks I always just sit on the floor in the living room andlay the spread cloth. Hmmm! Got me thinking.

The transformational deck by Ando is one I only use for myself.
http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/transformational/
I haven't even let anyone else see it yet:)
It's all mine!!!
I also don't think I ever used tarot of the Spirit in readings for others. It's just such a complex deck that needs a certain mindset and quiet to work with that I can't imagine using it when someone else is nearby.
And as Thea Lynx wrote, I also am rather protective about the Shining Tribe deck, mainly because it is still rather new to me and because I find I read it in a very different way then I do other decks.

Buddha because it's new and I'm wanting to cultivate some of the beautiful ideas and meditational bents...likely I will share the Buddha come summer and I've learned more peaceable ways...
The Ferrara study decks because the art and poetry are inspiration...(Matteo Boiardo & the forthcoming gilded to replace my cheesy cutouts & another art deck)
At some point I will share the Golden from Kat Black, but it's an amazing stunner for me.
Best,
Mari H.

Hi,
Most of my decks are not read because I collect them. I also have some that I use to read for others. However, I have a Quest that I use only for myself but have another that I use to read for clients. I'd have to say The Millenium Tarot by Mary Susan Chamberlain/Ziba Vilmanis-Westernberg. No one touches this deck but me.
Joy to you,
Maralee
