I was envious of the delightful posts of the Faeries Study Group as they went shopping for journals and such and alll sounded wonderful.
So your decks are flying with you to pick out a journal, or perhaps picture postcards to send to others cheerfully wishing they were as fortunate as you and your decks, or the appropriate costumes....I know they are ink and paper, but let them this once have a voice and be spoilt rotton or spoilt nicely, whatever you prefer.
For instance, My Golden Tarot deserves the best, but I keep switching study journals and book bags. Strangely, all the postcards that I picked up in a used bookstore with deep, rich colors that were impressionistic, in deep blues and yellows...so they would send you postcards from the border of Italy and France.
My Buddha Tarot and booklet has settled in a turquoise and white silk bag and I know which of two book bags to put the book if I'm travelling. Probably a turquoise silken covered journal with pretty paper inside, usually reserved for conference notes, is going to enjoy my scribbles. You would receive my other impressionistic mix of simple woodblock prints, usually from some obscure Japanese period.
Best wishes and happy travels,
Mari H.

LOL!
My large Thoth deck is anxiously waiting for its custom-made, large-sized, silk-lined bag (in a wonderful, muted Celtic Dragon print) to arrive in the mail and my Sphynx deck will have a Sphinx bag waiting for it when it joins my family. Everybody else is pretty well nestled into their silk-lined bags and snoozing comfortably between readings and research sessions.
NOW they just want me to get off my duff and buy them a nicer bookbag/tote to take them out visiting in.............

Cerulean Mari -
I always used to do my tarot readings on the kitchen table.
Since reading posts like this from you, I've got silk reading mats, and tarot bags and I always read with flowers on the lounge room table and fragrant oils or candles burning.
And also my picture of Isis within view.
These times have become more special times.
Thank you :)

But I have to be honest, I have been using lately old bandanas I don't wear, cotton recycled from folk dancing days, old placemats my grandmother made for me before she passed away...I travel with cotton that I marbelized in a class ten years ago and use these scraps...very handy and comforting. So I've been shopping in my closet and bookshelves recently in my Spring cleanouts.
I have cloth bookcovers (three) in different sizes that I sometimes use for tarot books or for a pad and a zip bag with the cards. I secure them with a ribbon or just fold them around and everything is light and handy.
I've started preferring cotton, as it isn't so slippery. It somehow feels right to have the old cloth...so I do idea-shopping on tarottoes.com

Wow, that's a great thought. I have some nice things from both grandmothers, even lace items that they made. Maybe I should put my credit cards away and check out the cedar chest........

I managed to find an old Italian silk scarf - its like a paisley print and very old fashioned, like a bandana, on my local bric-a-brac market - as soon as I saw it I thought of my Golden and how nice it would look spread out on it. All my other spread cloths are purple so this makes a nice change. :)

I go fantasy shopping with my decks on tarottotes.com quite frequently - think there may be more bags calling to me than I actually need. . . but such is shopping.
