Send all your decks to me and then you will be able to focus on school :D
OK, OK, alot yourself a certain amount of time each day that you will allow yourself to pursue your tarot interests. Really. Just stick to it and focus on school when that time is over. If you mind starts wandering when you should be studying, just remind yourself how much money you will make when you graduate and all the Tarot decks that could buy!

Considering that I have been dreaming of tarot as of late and that I have ordered many more decks than I said I ever would when I started back into this, I feel I am ill equiped to give you a solution to your problem :D

Lswern, try a search on "addiction" here at AT and I'll bet there are a kajillion results all revolving around what happens when you first discover Tarot, it's like falling in love for the first time or something. Absolutely obsessive. Temperance was my mantra because it really was freaking me out just how obsessed I had become in such a short while. It was a good thing my old man was out fishing or we would have had a melt down last summer, I ate, drank and slept Tarot, I hadn't discovered this forum yet or I would have moved in permanently. I didn't feel good unless I had cards in my hands and/or reading everything everyone had to say about it. I've got a folder in favorites about 9 miles long for sites of various meanings, ways of looking at meanings, blurbs, spreads, places that have the whole decks, places for on line readings, shopping places, you name it, it's there and it gets longer every day.
I honestly think the forum itself is just as addicting or more so, because of the feedback and interaction with all these great people. I love it here.

Hmmm, if you really want to curb your tarot obsession, Lswern, I might say you shouldn't ask the people around here...*L*

I had this happen to me when I first got back into it. There is no escape!! :D Now the addiction is collecting. I'm buying new decks before I can study the previous ones. It feels so wrong....yet....so right :D

there is no escape. but give yourself time for tarot everyday as your reward for studying. that's how i pace myself. if do (fill in the blank) ______ then i can have 1 hour reward time. you have got to treat yourself or life isn't worth living even if you are in school.

My joke post aside....I really can't seem to NOT do Tarot...today at work I had my first lunch break without pressing reports or testing to do...so
I designed my Tarot Spread on Word, e-mailed it home...
and here I am again....My husband has give up on expecting this "fad" to go away..I have an agreement with him that on work nights I will be with him by 8p.m. ...we eat a bit before that, then I do a quick check before bedtime....I have so many books I want to read when I have time...I have new cards on the way...
It is definitely addicting...but I won't get arrested for Driving while under the influence of ..........Tarot! At least I hope not...since sometimes I am reciting card things in my head...and forget the posting..someone pointed out the other day that I had over 800 posts and I only joined in February of this year...I didn't even do a Chat thing when I got there, just rolled right through...it's not about frequency ...it's about loving this thing we call Tarot...
so join the club...
no 12-step meetings for this one...I'm not giving it up!

Dead Star. Did you forget how wonderful it is just to sitt for hours and studie the cards!!!!????!!! Just to look at every card in your new"born" deck...look at it..deeper and deeper and se the three dimetional forms appear and just "fall" into the picture and explore the different meanings that appears and just to feel the joy of holding the card in your hand...to feel the exsitement!!!!!!! Did you forget to enjoy your cards Dead Star!?
Please RE-member the feeling!

How about using your cards to help you study. Like apply a card to what it is that you are studying and it might help you remember when it comes to the exam.

~chuckles and looks for Faunabay, Kiama, and other members~ ... welcome to the club diane. Our motto is to support your habit, encourage you to purchase new decks (if you have the money), and to let you know that you are not alone. If you do a search for "taroholics" you will find a couple of threads, one that even includes the club bylaws *LOL*.

I have lots of interests and they seem to run there cycle and I am on the next one. Until I started on the Tarot it has lasted the longest. Fish gardening shopping drawing etc may come and go but the Tarot I think is my true love

Yes, I have the sme problem...
But seriously, Taot should help you grow, not becime your life. Are you sure you are addicted to Tarot, or it something else, like finding answers, or are you relying on it too much, to the point of analyzing everything too much. Tarot is at the same time all-encompasing and limited. Get out and live, you'll be a better reader for it.
Gee, wasn't that a serious reply. I must be in a mood...

thankx, you all!
i'm now 'awake'!!
i found that the sun shines all over the world, and not only my tarot cards.......!
what can i say? i feel like 'the sun'!....full of vitality!
yeah, i cannot let tarot become my life, but to help with my life....!
i'm in a wider view.....!and i know what i really want...:D
P/s: sometimes, we can't see other things, because our views are blocked by something else......
i really hope all of you can really find the real meaning of tarot in your lives!...
blessings,
Lswern

We have a saying in my Country, maybe u have it where u live to...?
I use to think about it when i feel a bit lost...
" - I can´t see the forest...it´s so many trees in the way!"
In this scenario you just need to take a step back and u will get an overview.
Addiction might be when you are to much up and about in something...
There´s gotta be harmony folks :D
The perfect card for this is Temperence in the view of Thirteen;
"All it takes, the Fool realizes, is the right proportions....and the right vessel."

Ah Ha - I see the folly of my ways, I just need to get a bigger house, (the right sized vessel), to hold the growing proportions of my tarot collection. :D

Wow! You can get a house with a conected store on the main-street of your town, and there in your store you can have like a library where u can sell the books and the tarot-decks that youve got tired of! :D
There are no limits _N_, the only limits are your imagination and wallet, and ofcourse your initiation!!!!!!
