I thought I would start a new thread on the basis of Darla's thread re. Wishlists. I was going to add to Darla's thread, but thought that I would ask a different question...
I know many people for whom the wishlist is a list of the all the decks that one just CANNOT have! Ha! Ofcourse, my reference to sado-masochism is a light-hearted and humorous one.
I just wonder as to why we punish ourselves with huge wishlists?!!!
:)

Actually, wishlists have a good side besides the SM side. Many decks that were put on my wishlist, rather than being immediately bought, fell off my wishlist as my interests changed, thereby saving the purchase.

Good point! I never thought of it that way... I guess my wish-list just seems to be growing in new-additions... I never seem to lose anything. Ha!

On the other hand, some of the decks that were on my wish list and are still notionally on the list or fell off the list were the kind that I couldn't get except through foreign mail order so I resisted. I ended up buying more readily-available but less desired decks. In retrospect, I should have bought those mail order decks, and I may have not bought the ones I did end up getting.

I think all collectors want to acquire rare and unusual items. Zippo lighters are getting prettier but the old, original, unadorned ones are still the most sought-after.

hummm.. first the g-spot and now sm, centaur, is there something else in your life than tarot and sex and tarot and sex and ...? ;)
i didn't even know the word "wishlist" before i joined aeclectic. if i hadn't joined, i'd have one deck and a few books, i guess.
there's a kind of emulation, inspiration, competition? coming from the board that makes me add things to my wishlist. at the end, i am not quite sure whether i want these decks or i'm just curious to see why so many have them... at least i know i definitely don't NEED those decks, but i still buy new ones :(
so from this point of view, yes you're right, this is a very sm addictive kind of relationship, but i don't know if it's only to the wishlist or to the all tarot forum...

By the way, where is your wishlist posted Centaur? I looked under the sticky post in the "tarot decks" forum about "what decks are on your wishlist" and didn't find yours!
My wishlist changes like the seasons. One day I want a deck and the next day I see something I like better. I try to only add decks to my wishlist that are within my budget. Currently, I think I have about 3 decks that are published on it and all the rest of them on the list are unpublished (but hopefully soon to be published).

Mine is posted in my brain! Make it even more difficult to erase, and ensures permanent 24/7 torture. Muhaha. ;)

I found the cure for wishlists. Solved that problem! Now I have a different problem. It's called a credit card bill.
