Ok.How far is there a difference between a male and female view of the tarot? I have a view but want to hear after learning .

Hi there gareth.

I can only tell you my view of what tarot is and I am female. I have no way of knowing what a male view is, so we shall have to rely on some to come forward :D

To me tarot is an education in history, psychology, philosphy, mythology, geography, art and many other disciplines. Its also a journey into the unconscious. It enables us to self analyse, to put things into perspective and to tap into our intuitive sides. I used to doubt that I had an intuitive side because I am a very black and white, logical person, but after some time I have come to realise that in fact I have always used my intuition, I just didn't realise it. Now I have learnt to recognise it when it happens and to accept it.

We all do this because we enjoy it but for some its a living, for others its a study and I think you may get many different answers here.

:)

Hey there,

hm, a gender difference in terms of viewing Tarot? I'm a male, but I don't think I can speak for my entire gender -- I was going to type something out but frankly Jewel-ry's answer quite eloquently describes how I personally view the Tarot. To be honest Tarot, and Aeclectic, are one of the few places that I've encountered where gender seems pretty immaterial. But that's just my point of view of course ;)

As I said I needed to learn.A lot of what you said meant a lot to me. Without stating the obvious the empress is a card which reminds me of all our femining sides/. I mean sensitive by that!

Oh gareth,

Did you mean for us to relate the question to the Empress card specifically? Do men and women view the the Empress card differently? mmm

If thats what you meant, I would say that we all have our variations on the meaning of any card, whether it be the Empress, Emperor or Moon and Sun. Mostly, I think there are similarities in how we all view any specific card.

I view the Empress as creative, intelligent, nurturing, caring, understanding and sensitive to name but a few. How do you view her?

:)
