Seems like we've all had negative experiences with other people telling us tarot is "bad" or otherwise looking down on us for studying it. I was wondering if any of you could share you POSITIVE spiritual experiences with the tarot? Be specific, if you don't mind! I'm currently trying to figure out how tarot fits with my spirituality...

My experience with Tarot, like Astrology, is that of a continuing connection into something beyond conventional everyday life. The connection illustrates and responds to a wider and somewhat elusive place where understanding, helpfulness and perspective seems to be the rule. This supportive resource is there to help us to help others, to grow in our own understanding of life.
My definition of spirituality is that knowing or learning something that is valid and fundamental means that you have the responsibility to incorporate it in your life or awareness. Having had and done Tarot and Astrology readings, I'm aware of this wonderful source of help and information. I try to use it responsibly. I may not know much about this "source" but I know enough to trust and value it.
Specifics could be cited but the experience is a continuing one, an ongoing connection. Dave.

Above all else...when I read tarot regarding a subject that is bothering me, tarot helps me to calm down and focus on the matter better. Also tarot has encouraged me to explore other sides of my spirituality and psychic awareness.

To me, the Tarot helps put things in perspective. With the Tarot, I can see the bigger picture - and the beauty of that picture often inspires me spiritually.
In a way it is like prayer - but the universe answers you, and you alone, right here and now. It speaks a language of color and symbolism, instead of abstract words.
So I believe that working with Tarot helps me understand the universe's "language" better, if you will.

Tarot has brought me clarity during confused phases. It's like "Aaaah. Now I gettit" kind of feeling - a level of deep deep understanding to a situation. It's brought me a reason why something may have occured. And also helps me stay grounded at times.
Guess it boils down to 'peace' and self discovery.
Blessings

Tarot invites us to always ask questions, and teaches us that we no longer need to live our lives on the surface. It encourages us to investigate ourselves and our surroundings. It expands our interests and makes us delve further into them. It gives us a kind of freedom and independance to be ourselves and takes away any restriction we feel.
I never gave Spirituality much thought before but now I question many things including like my up bringing and tradition. I also now realise that I have options in everything I do, whereas before I just went with the flow and accepted alot that was wrong for me.

I have become more aware of the positive things in life.
Tarot has taught me many lessons of life that no one around me ever talked about. I feel as if I'm a better person because of my studies of Tarot and Numerology etc.
The Awareness is the most positive. Tarot is like affirmation of everything I knew but no one ever talked about.
Also different Tarot teaches different lessons. You have to pick and choose what you would like to learn and it's all a lot of work but the benefits are worth it.

I find my cards are a comfort zone for me.
They're like a therapist in some ways (and a lot cheaper) :D
I have meditated on certain cards especially from my oracles when I've had health problems and they were a good dose of medicine. When I'm uptight I shuffle until I feel better and then just look at the pictures. Again I find this to be a calming experience.
I hope this is what you were looking for mj07- as for other peoples negative opinions, or those looking down on us for studying tarot - :P

Tarot actually LED me to my spirituality. Before I got into it I didn't really know anything about the path I wanted and was just developing my beliefs, but it led me here and then on to Paganism :)

Tarot has helped me in so many ways. The connection with everyone and the universe it has shown me. It has given me hope and inspiration. And a interest, because I'm a single mom with young children it gives me an outlet to have something to study. I've always been interested in the metaphysical. And it can give such wonderful solutions to problems.
Because of tarot it has inspired me to develop my own psychic awareness. And has led me to my next calling. i would say that tarot has made me wiser, as it challenges my mental and spiritual selves. The other thing that it could bring, a income too(Not yet)
And most of all, it has led me to this wonderful forum....making new friends, sharing and exchanging ideas. And being around like minded people. Not yet have i had a bad experience, and I won't either, because I will not create that in my reality....And if so, it will only be a learning experience.

I find myself praying more lately...even asking for things...which I rarely did. I used to pray "Let me accept the outcome." Now I say..."Please heal my doggie." Somehow, I feel a stronger connection with my higher self/inner guide. I also feel this will be my main purpose for reading...to bring "healing" or "guidance" to those who seek. More grounded. More accepting of what is...sometimes I just think of X...The Wheel...and say
Eh...there's a purpose here somewhere...it'll roll around to my attention.
Other cards bring me other guidance...doing one a day with TdM..that, too, brings me spiritual guidance when I reflect at night on the meaning that card may have had in my day...I do this after the day...it has also helped.

Making the decision to start actively studying tarot again after all of these years (I put it aside out of stupid fear before) has helped me to face irrational fears about my inherient spiritual and psychic side.
It's also helped me to see my own spiritual growth through the majors.

Tarot has strengthened my connection to spirit and divine guidance.
I listen more and use my intuition more than I did before studying tarot. I initially got into tarot to tap into my psychic abilities and to help me connect with my higher self. Tarot has strengthened these qualities in me and I indeed feel that tarot is another way to accessing the path to enlightenment.
Tarot is another way of tapping into the divine universe and all of its knowledge. A very powerful tool indeed.

I learned to trust my inner voice and listen to the messages being sent from this world and the other side. I discovered a depth of spirituality that I never though was possible, especially for me.
