I've officially been duped! >_<!

This is in relation to the Aleister Crowley Thoth deck that I bought on ebay. It was described as "brand new" (that was ALL the description she gave), but when I received it, it looked dirty, the cards were not in order and some were even reversed! I emailed the seller several days ago and have received no reply still. The seller's username is dawl7azx!

InvisibleSoul  12 May 2004
I just bought the Thoth deck myself last week!
I love it! The artwork is STILL blowing me away!
Mine came from Barnes and Noble though... :P

Yea, it sounds like you were lied to :(
That is terrible!
I'm so sorry to hear it!

Cerulean  12 May 2004
I am sorry to hear that. Thank you for sharing the buying information and please be certain to add the feedback to ebay...

You can always turn around & sell it or trade it off on the board here. Hopefully you paid less than full price for it?

As with anything bought at rummage sales, online through ebay, or anywhere NOT a store, it's 'buyer beware'.

sirona86  12 May 2004
sorry to hear about that kittaine! luckily all the online transactions i've made have turned out well so far. and make sure to leave the seller negative feedback!

Kittaine  12 May 2004
What am I gonna do now? Ask for a refund and send this deck back? She won't even communicate with me! :(

hedgecub  12 May 2004
Keep trying to communicate with her.

I believe eBay can keep an auction on your 'recently won' list for up to 30 days. Keep trying for say 21 days of that time; you may as well give her the benefit of the doubt in case she got called away on an emergency or something.

If you don't get a further response 21 days from the end of the auction, then I'd say leave some negative feedback. Remember to state exactly how she duped you; that way further buyers know exactly what kind of person they're dealing with.

yve  12 May 2004
How did you pay? If by paypal, you can go to their site to request a refund because the item wasn't as described. If by a credit card, then even better. Most credit cards have purchase protection. However if it was cash or money order, you may be out of luck. However, you can leave feedback for her saying that the cards were in bad condition, not the good condition posted! You are limited to the number of words you can write, so make it matter. It is a learning experience. I've had a couple of bad transactions, but many, many more good ones. There are bound to be a couple of bad apples in the basket....

SongDeva  12 May 2004
I think you can actually notify eBay, who will get involved.

Emily  12 May 2004
Hi Kittaine,

It does look like she's not going to get back in touch with you. Its a shame she done this and maybe has done it before. Very negative feedback and a 'Buyer beware' might be the only satisfaction you're going to get. Oh and to inform Ebay that she's selling goods that are not as described.

HudsonGray  12 May 2004
Give her more than a few days to contact you back. Sometimes there are family emergencies, car accidents, or if their computer was hit by a virus it could be down for up to a week or so. There could be a legit reason out of their control that they can't contact you & haven't maybe even seen your emails yet.

Is she in an area being hit by tornadoes in the past day or two? I say this because I had an auction with someone on the east coast who didn't contact me for 2 weeks after the auction, then he finally got back online--he'd been in the path of a hurricane riding up the east coast of the Atlantic. So don't stress out yet. It could be trouble at their end.

Cerulean  12 May 2004
Sometimes a check will allow for a stop payment.

If you used the ebay service to send a message and can find if she is doing other ebay transactions, you might send her a polite message:

"I do not want to contact other bidders on your auctions to warn them of how you sent me used and dirty cards when you advertised a new item. Since you have not contacted me, nor suggested any way to reimburse or refund defective merchandise, I am also looking into stop payments as well as negative feedback, etc. I would like to resolve this peacefully.

If I do not hear from you by the end of the day, I will be forced to conclude you intended to sell me something not as advertised and must proceed accordingly.

I hope I am wrong."

This might do something, at least give notice for what steps you try to take next.

Regards,

Cerulean

I am almost positive that you can file a complaint directly to ebay. I did this on half.com when I bought the second season of "24" and never received it. The seller just disappeared, after taking money from myself and 44 other people.

I had to wait 30 days (but that was due to non-delivery). In your case, as long as you made an attempt to contact the seller, you can file a formal complaint. Find the order number and fill out a form online. It may take 30 days to investigate, but you will get satisfaction.

yve  12 May 2004
Ebay won't get involved if it's under $25. But if it's over that amount, then they do have an avenue for buyers to try and resolve the matter.

Star Spirit  12 May 2004
*Slams fist into wall* Damn a**hole. :D

Sorry to hear that Kittaine, I hope you get it straightened out one way or another.

Kittaine  12 May 2004
How do I report her to ebay? I'm new to ebay. Thanks.

hyatt  12 May 2004
I have someone that hasn't even sent me my deck! It has been WEEKS. I sent a money order the next day. I was actually going to give some negative feedback tonight. Sorry to hear you are having bad luck too!

HudsonGray  12 May 2004
This Page: http://pages.ebay.com/help/confidence/programs-investigations.html

Go down to 'selling offenses' and click on 'transaction non-performance'. Follow the instructions.

Kittaine  13 May 2004
Thanks, HudsonGray! *hugs and kisses*

Shade  13 May 2004
If nothing else you can leave negative feedback for her, it will hurt her futre business. You should always check the feedback rating of a selle before bidding.
