I know there's only SO much you can say about any topic, and I guess that applies for tarot as well
I have been absent from the forums for a while, but now that I've come back I get the feeling that most of the conversations taking place are focusing mostly on specific decks or reading xchange
And I know we have tons on forums on excellent topics that cover almost anything, but does anyone else have any thoughts on this shift of focus?
It's just that I haven't found any new discussion lately on tarot that really appeals to me

Thread subjects are based on the interests of thread starters. If there's an area of interest you wish to discuss that isn't covered by the threads you see, certainly feel free to start a thread on your own.

Well, we had an overdose of politics for a bit here, and I think a number of people are simply sitting back and watching and thinking. Give it a bit of time, or throw in something in a direction you'd like to see.
After all, you don't have to know something about a subject to start a thread on it and then sit back and see what happens (giggle).

I often believe the same, but I find myself revisiting topics when they are brought up again (usually by a new board member). I find this serves a couple of purposes. First, the newer members often do not research to see if a topic has been discussed and I find this a wonderful thing. This shows the member is eager to dive right in and participate. Secondly, it allows me to reinitiate my thought process. I find opinions I have had on topics just a couple of months ago have changed drastically and I like to see that trend in my growth.
As for the recent political events, I know I personally have withdrawn a bit from the boards lately but more so because of major personal changes in my life. The beauty of AT seems to be that it acts like a nice calm wave on the shore. The wave comes in and brings new exciting material (in this case members) to explore on the beach sands while pulling back some things you wanted time to explore more. However, the next wave will probably return those beloved objects. The AT boards are always evolving and it can be a beautiful thing.

I noticed a trend toward strictly chat. You might be interested in becoming a subscriber, so you can dive into the chat forum. I noticed on another forum, that once the chat function became operational, the threads kind of died off. Must be a social thing.
This forum does well on keeping threads going and providing varied, relevant topics. Maybe you could post something new yourself that's geared to what you want to discuss and others will join in.
I still remember your thread on the 4 of Pentacles months ago which was quite interesting.

Yes, I think we all go through periods of wishing that the boards would engage us with the furor they once did. Its a little bit like an infatuation that starts to wear off, then the nitty gritty of the relationship is exposed... some times hard work to keep the communication flowing.
Its sad to say, but sometimes it is the drama and upset that is most compelling in a board, and peaceful conversation less so. Where oh where is the sturm and drang. No, no, I did NOT say that...
Are you a bit in the doldrums?
A recommended cure.... *firemaiden pulls a card* ... it's the "WOF"!!
"WOF WOF WOF..."
Perhaps it is a recommendation to turn everything upside down, and try to see everything with fresh eyes.
Or... is it a recommendation to let your wheels spin?

The Wheel of Fortune turns the seasons, too. For me, less posting and reading comes from spring. We finally (in New England) have gardening/hiking/biking/deck weather. AT helped get me through the winter, now I can be outside!
(though I can still surf during slow times at work)

Good pull Fire wench! :D
Like all trends...yep, it's a wheel thing!
I have really noticed it too...but then I am tuned into that damn Wheel of Fortune a little too much sometimes...
Cycles around...there will be little activity...nothing nothing nothing...and then all of a sudden EVERYTHING!
The wheel spins differently in the different forum threads, too!
If ya don't believe me...take a look at the General Study Groups forum! :D
There was a lot going on in Chat for a while...and now that too is quiet...Fun and games goes through inaction cycles often.
It seems like the deck forum is always busy evolving...as is the history thread..um...I mean threads!
Don't give up yet, indigo lady! the forum will come around again! But Rusty Neon is right too...If you want an interesting conversation don't be afraid to start one!

Humm...
I've seen a couple of references to politics in the posts, I'm afraid to ask what that was all about
Of course I can start a thread on something, I just did, didn't I???? ;)
It's just that it has surprised how much the areas of interest have shifted in the forum, especially because in my situation I haven't got much to say about different decks since I don't have access to them here
Don't worry I am NOT "offended" by that
I would gladly join the chats as well, but as it happens over here I don't have a method of paying for the subscription from here since I have not yet been accepted into the credit victims society, yet...
Now, don't worry, I won't talk about my phone or tuition bills here...
I actually encourage new members to bring up questions even if they can find them in old threads because as contrascarpe96 said it refreshes our views of them which might have changed over the course of the last few months
Nothing is written in stone, right? ;)
Yes firemaiden (Hello!!!! by the way...): conflicts and controversies tend to be far more interesting
(except in my workplace where I was scolded for disagreeing in a brain storming session.. anyways....)
Big wheel keeps on Turin'
Proud Mary keeps on burning
Rollin', rolling, rolling on the river
... Rollin', rolling, rolling on the river
*** wow Darwinia, 4 of pentacles was a looooooong time ago, by the way, we've moved from 4 of pentacles to 8 of pentacles... we'll see what happens

I go through phases where I can't stop talking about tarot then I seem to need a break in order to digest what I have learned. I think in alot of things that this is just the way my brain works. The one thing I like about tarot is that you can never "learn" it all.
When I have burn out one of the things I like to do is to look at the new decks that are comming out and look at all the different takes on cards.
