Well, it has happened. A local shop has hired me to do readings on a part-time basis. The owners of the shop are very sweet people who know my brother well, and who I have known a little over the years. They are taking a chance on me (and I am hoping not to let them down). I know in my heart I am ready, but I also know that I will be nervous at first.
Sorry for this indulgence, but I had to yell this from the AT mountaintop since so many of you have been instrumental in getting me to this point. I have many friends here at AT an appreciate the love and support - just wanted to share my "happy moment" with you.

How wonderful for you!!!
Although my exposure to reading for others has been rather limited so far, I find it is an experience that gives me as much as it does to the seeker.
Color me jealous.

Cool man. Once I get alot more experience I'll love to do that too. It's even got me thinking about a business venture, like having a Tarot cafe. Cup of coffee, cake and a reading!
Please let us know how it's going.

Dan, you now have a new focus and some fun activity to offset some of the other aspects you have been looking to change. This new adventure sounds like a great solution -- it will give you a lot of satisfaction, help others and push away some of that other boring stuff. You know the whole Tarot Circle as well as the AT cheering section is behind you. Enjoy it. Best of luck. Dave.

Dan: Congratulations--that is indeed wonderful news!
Quite alright to be a wee nervous. Center & ground before each reading; pace yourself & ye will be fine.
The experiences *will* take your relationship with the cards & your readings to a different level. Being actively engaged in Tarot work seems to accelerate the insights & understanding.

Congratulations! You will help many people, I am sure, and you will get so much more in return. Fair enough.
Having been the subject of one of your readings, I can say they your “spiritual patients” are very lucky people.

Don't feel sorry old chap, enjoy it! Well done for getting where you have. I remember a post from you a while back about nerves. It takes great courage to read in public, and it takes greater courage to stand up to your fears, confront them, and win.
So, well done mate, well done. Just don't go ignoring us now, OK?!

I didn't begin this post for the praise, but I am appreciative of every word. Everybody who has posted has had a hand in my development - as a reader, as a spirit and as a person.
To be honest, I had been down about the boards for a couple of days because of something that happened to me here. But you all made me realize that the thousand great experiences I have here outweigh the odd bad one. That is why this place is special.
Mari and Ruby - you bring up good points about which will be my main reading decks. If I hadn't been such a deck hog recently, I probably would not have this problem. I do know that one of them will be the Robin Wood because it is my "out" deck - the one I turn to when my brain freezes. I will probably bring a few and pick one as the spirit moves me. The Rhorig is now a favorite of mine and I may pull that one out. I will keep you posted.
Thanks again to all :)
Dan

Congratulations again. I have a few technical questions. How long of readings are you offering? What money is involved and what is the stores cut? How busy do you expect to be?
I have read in bookstores in the past using tarot and palm. In my experience the bookstore got 25%. I was busy Wednesday through Sunday, but there was no point in being there on Monday or Tuesday. My palm readings and 3 card reading were around 10 minutes each. I did one hour readings and the occassional past life regression. I am considering it again, though I would no longer do the past life regressions. I am very curious what your experience will be...my experiences were several years ago in a small northern town in the US.
Confidence isn't an issue, it's just your imagination working. Just read the cards and don't worry about it. You will be fine.

Ooops, Dan, I missed this one.
I agree with other posts that sort of intense experience will take you to a new level of understanding, both of the cards and your fellow travellors.
