I keep confusing Judgment with Justice!!!

Arghhh!! Frustrating! If both of them ever come out in a reading--and I hope that never happens; it hasn't happened to me so far--I'd go BLANK! How would you differentiate them? Can somebody please draw a clear, straight line between the two and end my misery? :( Thank you!

Check out Thirteen's meanings here: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/basics/

Justice is about adjustment, whereas Judgment is about closing doors & beginning anew. So it's a completion of sorts--whereas the Justice card is dealing with what's still in progress.

There is a thread about those two cards here:

There are some great posts there.

Justice is the looking at things, weighing the elements of the situation.
Judgement is the reaction to the action that was looked at by justice.

This is just an idea ~

Take both cards and layer them. You may get a different understanding of the two.

I found the Robin Wood deck to be quite helpful in differentiating the two: Justice is a woman holding a sword in one hand and a set of scales in the other, denoting weighing the evidence and prounouncing punishment or reward; Judgement is a woman rising from a cauldron like a phoenix from the flames, denoting death and rebirth.
Justice to me means weighing up a situation and making a firm decision on it, or being firm and honest with yourself or with the people around you. Judgement is more like looking back on a chapter of your life, acknowledging your good and bad decisions and actions, accepting the lessons you've learned, then closing the door on that chapter and opening a door to a new future.

I tend to think of Justice as relating to/influenced by external matters, and Judgment as relating to/influenced by internal realizations or decisions.

They're similar if one looks at Judgment in an armageddon light with a Last Judgment weighing the souls of peoples.
